Oh, I'd have framed that thing.![]()
Hi!
Taking a little break this Sunday and thought I'd try to get caught up on this fun, li'l thread. So here we go...
2004
From SHE-HULK #3
A quickie flashback to why Augustus "Pug" Pugliese is such a Spider-Man fan. Which was all set-up for...
SHE-HULK #4 (one of my FAVORITE comics I've ever worked on.)
I love that page! Juan Bobillo knocked that RIGHT out of the park!
(BTW, when I told my Dad about this gag, he said "Oh you SHOULDN'T do that. DON'T do that." And that's when I knew I had comedy-gold.)
2005
From SHE-HULK #11
Face it, True Believer, no one writes a better unconscious Spidey than moi.
And then comes one of the projects I'm the MOST proud of...
From SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH #1
Seriously, isn't Ty Templeton's comic timing on this pure genius?! BOY, did he sell that gag!
From SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH #2
This whole mini was nothing but fun, fun, FUN!
From SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH #3
This is my favorite panel of J. Jonah Jameson I've ever written.
:WHEEEEEEEEEE!
"If you ever start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the internet."

2005 continued...
From GLA#2
Spidey says "Thanks, but no thanks" to membership in the GLA. Probably the smartest thing he's ever done.
Even though this was between SHE-HULK Vol.1 and SHE-HULK Vol.2 & THING... it was a really busy time-- as I was working on SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH, GLA, work for AMAZING FANTASY Vol.2 #15, JLA CLASSIFIED, TOMB RAIDER #50, an issue of LOONY TUNES, an episode of the FANTASTIC FOUR cartoon, restoring/tweaking old BIG MAX script, and prep-work on SHE-HULK Vol.2 & THING... AHHHH! (My solution was simple. I stopped sleeping. And got walking pneumonia.)
From SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH #4
Aww... Jean DeWolff... How I miss you, you beret-wearing, chain-smoking, tough-as-nails, Jim-Gordon-in-a-skirt-style cop.
And, check it out, the Beetle:
From SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH #5
Back when I first pitched this, I thought Spidey revealing his Secret ID to the Torch would be a big deal. Little did I know that before we could reach #5, a number of writers would have him revealing his ID left-and-right... even swinging around town with his mask off! (And this was BEFORE CIVIL WAR #2!) Still... I think we made it work.
From WIZARD MAGAZINE #166
This was a hoot! Thanks to the kind folks at WIZARD, and with the help of Jim Calafiore, I got to "pimp" Spidey's wheels!
From THING #1
At home with the Parkers... in Avengers Tower... and waited on by Jarvis (a.k.a. Aunt May's Stud Muffin). Good times. Hmmm... Maybe TOO good a time.
From AMAZING FANTASY Vol.2 #15
Ever wonder what the story was BEHIND the cover to AMAZING FANTASTY #15? Well just check out Patrick and my short story "I Was the Guy in Spider-Man's Armpit."
From SHE-HULK Vol.2 #3 (a.k.a. SHE-HULK #100)
Spider-Man takes the stand again, this time to defend She-Hulk's very existence!
And that wraps up 2005!
Next time we'll reach the present and that's it...
...or, like they used to say in the Doritos ads, "Crunch all you want, we'll make more."

Oh, I've gotta get your Thing series now, Dan. I'm sorry I wasn't one of the ones buying it at the time...

SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH is one of the great Spidey stories. And SHE-HULK #4 is one of the great MARVEL stories. Really.
