    Watching elections from overseas

    Fuck.

Iowa caucuses start at 7PM local time in Iowa.

I'm at GMT +1. Means I'll most likely watch the news in the morning. That's a bummer. I wanna know what happens, but I don't wanna stay up until 3 or 4AM to find out.

I was in London in November of 2000 when Bush won. I voted by mail in Oregon, then boarded a plane and went first to New York, then London, then Belfast and Rathlin Island for Garth Ennis's stag party, then Amsterdam for the Cannabis Cup. In London, I had just arrived on election night. We watched election results until quit late. They declared Gore the winner and I went to sleep. I awoke to the retard Bush as President.

Any of you other ex pats who like watching election results? What do you do? Sleep, or stay up late? Watch news in the morning?

Incidentally, the CNN anchors overseas are pretty fucked. They're annoying as hell. I have BBC here too though, and Deutsche Welle, though that's mostly in German and I don't speak any German.

I watched the last election on the BBC till 4 am just before they called Ohio and Florida. Seeing Bush win state after state again made me not sleep well. The next morning I woke up to four more years

    Re: Watching elections from overseas

2004, I was in LA watching. I got more and more drunk and went to bed sad, though not surprised.

This election in 2008 is much more interesting, though. A lot of it's so much up in the air that it's a lot more fun to watch. And as much as I may not like some of the candidates, I would take any one of them over Bush. It's not as scary of an election, at least not for me.

That said, I'm not really very into anyone. If Bloomberg enters, he'll have my attention at the least.
