    Please introduce yourself...

If you don't mind, please give a little info about yourself.
Where you are based. What you do. What you like to do. Are you an artist? What kind of art do you like? Are you a student? What age you are?
When did you first start reading Kabuki?
What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story?
    What is your job?
Or anything else that comes to mind.

It will be good to have a thread like this for new and old members to add to.

    Thanks,

    Where you are based.

Physically or mentally? I'm in Florida, but wish I was in New York (I will be up there next month for a week though. Wooo!)

    What you do.

To pay the bills I work FT at a B&N. When I'm not working, I'm writing my comics and working on a few websites.

    What you like to do.

Writing, reading, photography, watch movies, go out and wander aimlessly around (yes, I do this, helps me think)

Are you an artist? What kind of art do you like?

I can't draw to save my life. But, I write.

    Are you a student?

I'm not a student of a school per say, but I consider myself a student of learning about life and the craft of writing.

    What age you are?

I'm not telling. I'm old enough.

When did you first start reading Kabuki?

Last year, because you asked me to give it an honest try.

What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story?

I LOVE Circle of Blood. Still is my favorite.

Or anything else that comes to mind.

I've got 5 pet birds. One of the African Greys thinks she is a turkey.

    Re: Please introduce yourself...

Where you are based. - New York, NY for work. I live on the south shore of Long Island.

What you do. - I'm an editor for a big ol' internet service and a amateur writer.

What you like to do. - Love writing, spending time with my dog (Krypto), anything with history (reading, going to historical sites), traveling (Thanks to Kubuki I looked for a "Panty Vending Machine" in Japan, just to see if they really existed. Yup. He ain't lying), movies, hiking, that kind of stuff.

Are you an artist? - I wish. I used to try really hard at it, but I never got any better at it. Way too frustrating. I started acting and then writing, which I'm better at anyway.

What kind of art do you like? - All kinds. I love going to museums and looking at it. Some things just appeal to you for some reason. So I can't just say "I like this". It's a case by case basis.

Are you a student? - Nope. All done

What age you are? - 30

When did you first start reading Kabuki? - A couple of years ago. I Had stopped buying comics for a couple of years (No money when I was in high school. I came back for a little while, but Superman Blue drove me away), so I missed much of Kubuki when it was first coming out. I got back into them around the time Kevin Smith was writing Daredevil, So I guess my first exposure to your work was through that character. I thought the art was beautiful, so I wanted to check out your other work.

What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story? I love that you never know exactly what it's going to be. It changes and evolves. I remember reading the first trade, thinking the "finger thing" was so bad-ass. And then the next volume is filled with all these beautiful colors and the art is just so darned interesting. You can keep looking at it and seeing something different every time. And I love that parts of it are so personal.

What is your job? On line stuff. I like it, but It's not all that exciting.

Or anything else that comes to mind. I met you at a convention in New York a couple of years ago. A completely positive experience. It was amazing to see painted pages up close, and you really made me feel more like a friend that just a fan (You asking questions about me! And I had nothing all that interesting going on!). Really cool experience.

Are you an artist? Technically, if by artist, you mean one who creates something original, than no. I can only draw the things I see.

    Are you a student? Nope
What age you are? Please, you know a lady never tells
When did you first start reading Kabuki? 94
What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story? Kabuki's struggle to find herself...especially now that, for the first time, she has no "assigned" or pre-conceived role.

    Location; Johnson City Tn

Occupation; film student ( I plan to be a stunt woman), I am also the director of a charity comic con called Geekapalooza

Can write really well, my strong suit would have to be scripting and screenplays. I can draw too, mainly Ghita typed characters go figure…

    Age…let’s not go there…

I thumbed through Kabuki but honestly haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Although the reviews I have heard imply that it kicks ass.

I don't mind if I do. My name is Francis Davis. call me Frank and given time I will say way too much.

    Where you are based.

    Chicago Illinois

    What you do.

I'm an administrative assistant for the city of chicago. By far the most surreal job that one can have.

    What you like to do.

I love going to the movies, walks in the neighborhood parks, dining, sociable drinking and the dfancing that goes with it, billiards, comics and I comedy. Gotta have that.

    Are you an artist?

    I wish.

What kind of art do you like?

Dali, Picasso, Warhol, Chaykin, Bilal, Sienkiwicz, your stuff, Shirow, McKean.

    Are you a student?

    Part time right now

    What age you are?

    27

When did you first start reading Kabuki?

Circle of blood number one back in 1995. Yes it has been ten years for me.

What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story?

I enjoyed the spy elements of Circle of blood, and the dialogue kept me going. I also enjoyed the Metamorphasis arc for the sheer challenge of the narrative flow. Scarab was fun because it's the simplist of tales, that in wrong hands could've been horrible. But thankfully that was not the case.

Or anything else that comes to mind.

David- I must say this, you are a price among men and the nicest guy in the planet. I for one cannot see a trip to the Chicago comicon/Wizardworld without you out in artist alley. Seriously, I love the book and I know that I'll still be reading the book for as long as you put the series out. If nothingelse, Kabuki still challenges me in regards to where you will use it's narrative and the art. The book is a serious challenge to read and enjoy, but it's worth every minute I invest in it.

    Re: Please introduce yourself...

Where you are based= Long Beach, California.

What you do. What you like to do.= Right now, I'm a Fine Arts student at USC, just finished my second year. Halfway there. Go me! Right now, while waiting on an internship/job for the summer, I'm spending my days reading tons of books and making costumes. Drawing, too, of course.

Are you an artist?= Just an art student.

What kind of art do you like?= Watercolor pieces are my favorites.

When did you first start reading Kabuki?=Sometime during high school. . .

What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story?= the art.. the characters... everything! There's so much to talk about even if you just pick out one or two pages... that's awesome. Scarab was actually the first book I came across (at a Borders) and I just couldn't stop reading it. The story really drew me in, and it's always awesome to see Asian girls kicking butt!

What is your job?= Hopefully will be interning at a advertising company in Santa Monica soon.

What you do? I was a sales auditor a couple of months ago, but I'm currently unemployed. Taking it easy and bumming around.
What do you like to do? Writing, reading, watching DVD's.
Are you an artist? I'm more of a writer than an artist.
Are you a student? Not a student. Thinking about going back for something like toy making.
What age you are? 27. I'll be 28 next Thursday.
When did you first start reading Kabuki? Along time ago back in college. The first issue I read was Kabuki: Circle of Blood #4
What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story? Metamorphosis
Or anything else that comes to mind: I met David at a Big Apple Convention years ago when it was still held at the St. Paul's Church. I was just blown away by his kindness. I ended up picking up a few prints that day. I would not see David at a convention again until last year at the Wizard Philly Con. I'm going again this year looking to pickup some prints and get some of my hardcovers signed. See ya next weekend. I'm really looking forward to it.

    Re: Please introduce yourself...

If you don't mind, please give a little info about yourself.

    Sure! Since you asked...

Where you are based. What you do. What you like to do. Are you an artist?

Currently I live in Louisville, KY. I was born in Los Angeles and raised there, Canada, and New York. But I've lived in Louisville most of my life. I'm at a crossroad on where I want to make my perminent(sp?) home- KY or CA

As a day job I work at a bank to pay bills but I'm working hard as a creator/writer/publisher. Yeah, just call me Mr. Approbation Comics. I've had a few things published, but a lot on the way: Currently Myriad is on the shelves and in stores. Next week will bring Lethal Instinct from Alias. Later in the Summer will be Chaos Campus through Approbation and Blood, Shells, & Roses through Arcana Studios.

What kind of art do you like?

All kinds... usually I like the more realistic looking stuff, but sometimes and on some things I like cartoony work.

    Are you a student?

Not currently... I am a student of the comic book industry, though...

    What age you are?

*counts on fingers* Ummm... 27? After 21 age and counting becomes the least of one's priorities. Even that small amount of brainpower could be used elsewhere.

When did you first start reading Kabuki?

With the first issue! It was different and cool looking and even back then I loved indy comics. You even came to one of our stores (the Zone back when it was owned by Rich) and did a signing.

What are your favorite parts of the Kabuki story?

My favorite arch is Scarab. Words can not describe how awesome that series is. As for parts in general... hmmm... off the top of my head I'd say the action scenes, but actually it boils down the the characters, the development, what happens to them, and slowly learning more about them all.

Or anything else that comes to mind.

Well, I always see you at Wizard Chicago and each year you get more and more busy (which shows how your success improves by each year- congrats). I hope to see you this year there and at the SDCC!
