Missing Teen Apparently Led Double Life As Porn Model

EL DORADO, Kan. -- A missing Kansas college student believed to be the victim of foul play apparently led a double life as an Internet porn star by the name of Zoey Zane.
Nude photos of 18-year-old Emily Sander appeared on a Zoey Zane Web site before she vanished, and investigators are looking into whether her modeling had anything to do with her disappearance last Friday.
"She enjoyed it. She is a young teenage girl and she wanted to be in the movies and enjoyed movies. She needed the extra money," Nikki Watson, a close friend of Sander's at Butler Community College, told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "Nobody in El Dorado knew besides her close friends."
Sander's brother, Jacob Sander, confirmed that the nude woman pictured on the site is his sister, but he refused further comment.
El Dorado Police Chief Tom Boren said FBI and state experts on Internet crime have been called in.
"Investigators are aware that Miss Sander was apparently involved in a Web site situation," he said. "Allegations that this may factor into her disappearance are being thoroughly investigated."
Sander was last seen leaving a bar in El Dorado, about 30 miles from Wichita, with a man identified as Israel Mireles, 24, authorities said. Sander and Mireles had met that night at the bar, according to Watson.
After Mireles did not show up Saturday at his job at an Italian restaurant, his employer went to the motel room where he was staying.
"His motel room was found to appear in great disarray and a large quantity of blood was found in the room," Boren said. "Bed clothing was found to be missing. The police were called."
A nationwide manhunt was under way for Mireles and his 16-year-old girlfriend. A rental car he had been driving turned up Tuesday in Texas, where he had family. On Tuesday, authorities released a photo of a white bedspread with a floral design and asked for the public's help in locating it.
"Our hopes kind of diminish each day we don't hear from her," the police chief said Wednesday.
Sander recently signed a contract for the pornographic work on the Web site, and told her parents about it on Thanksgiving, Watson said. Her boyfriend broke up with her because he did not approve, Watson said.
Sander's grandmother, Shirley Sander, said: "What you are telling me now is things we have never been told or heard. I don't know what to say. We have never heard anything like this and truthfully I don't believe it."
The company listed as the domain registrant for the Web site lists a Wichita address. Its administrator did not immediately return a call for comment. The site domain record shows the site was created in April.
Watson said she does not believe Sander's pornography work had anything to do with the disappearance.
"Nobody even knew about this until one of our close friends came out and told everybody because Emily did not want anybody to know," Watson said.
The brown-haired, blue-eyed Sander was last seen wearing low-rider jeans and a "Don't Mess With Texas" T-shirt. She has tattoos and body piercings.
On Tuesday, authorities released a photo of a white bedspread with a floral design and asked for the public's help in locating it. As divers searched a nearby dam, police asked the public to pay attention to areas east of El Dorado along U.S. 54 to Fort Scott and along U.S. 69 to Baxter Springs.
Sander's car was found Saturday at the bar. The rented 2007 Ford Taurus Mireles was believed to be driving was found by Texas Rangers in Vernon, Texas, about 50 miles northwest of Wichita Falls. Detectives and special agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation were headed there to help process the vehicle.

Police in Butler County say, the search continues for Emily Sander. In an afternoon news conference, police said they have traveled to Vernon, Texas where a car rented by Israel Mireles was located. So far, there is no word on whether that vehicle will be brought back to Kansas for processing.
Police confirmed they are searching the Walnut River and Dam area for signs of Sander. Police also quelled rumors that a body had been found, saying they would notify the public if a body was found - even if they hadn't confirmed the identity.
Authorities are still looking for Mireles and his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend. Mireles was reportedly the last person to see Sander.
Police say, they've collected evidence from the motel room a short distance from the bar where Emily was last seen. Police say there was a lot of blood in the room and there was a missing bed sheet (pictured).
Police also said, Emily Sander was involved in an adult website, but they weren't sure if or how that played a role in her disappearance.
Eyewitness News will continue to follow this story and bring you any updates here at kwch.com.
Tuesday News Conference: Police released few new details on the disappearance of Emily Sander. They also released two new photographs. A newer photo of Israel Mireles and a picture of a floral print bed sheet. They are asking people to keep an eye out in the area for a bed sheet matching the description.
Police also said, a Ford Taurus that was connected with the case has been found in Vernon, Texas. There is still no sign of Mireles or Sander.
Also, Emily's grandfather, Clem Sander spoke briefly. He thanked the police and the community for their support.
Police said during a news conference Monday afternoon that they believe Emily Sander was a victim of violence. Police did not give many other details. They did say they are working with other agencies to locate Sander and Mireles. Authorities called Mireles a "person of interest."
Emily Sander's grandfather, Clem Sanders spoke during the news conference. He said Emily is a sweet girl and was welcomed everywhere she went. He said, "We want to find her and we want your help," adding, "We need closure on this, one way or the other."
El Dorado Police and the KBI are looking for a missing teenager they believe is in trouble. Police say 18-year-old Emily Irene Sander was last seen Friday night at a bar called The Retreat, east of El Dorado.
Sander is 5'3", 105 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. She is a student at Butler Community College and lives in an apartment in El Dorado.
Sander was seen leaving with 24-year-old Israel Mireles. Mireles, a Hispanic male, is 5'6" and weighs 130 pounds.
Police aren't saying much about the investigation. Many of the questions posed in a news conference Sunday weren't clearly answered; only saying it's very early on, but they know something bad has happened.
El Dorado Police Captain Justin Phillips says of Mireles, "He's a person of interest. We need to talk to him. We believe he may have some information."
Officers found Sander's car still parked at The Retreat Saturday afternoon. Phillips says, "Time is always critical. There's always that potential of losing evidence."
Investigators are interviewing several people and searching different locations in the El Dorado area they say are connected to Sander's disappearance. Phillips says, "There is some connection between Emily and Mireles."
Police won't elaborate on the relationship. We do know Mireles is traveling with Victoria Martens; his 16-year-old girlfriend from Hays.
Phillips says, "There are some indications Victoria and Mireles have left the state and may be in Oklahoma or Texas."
As for where Sander fits in police, will only say the investigation has led them to suspect foul play. Authorities in all three states have been alerted.
Phillips says, "The important thing at this point is we get some help from the public as far as where Emily might be or even where Mireles might be."
Police say Mireles and Martens also have ties to Baxter Springs, Kansas. Authorities there have been notified.
Sander's grandfather made it to Sunday's news conference. He says the family doesn't know what to make of her missing and are holding up as well as can be expected.
Authorities think Mireles might be traveling in a green or gray 2007 Ford Taurus. It has Kansas tag number XUJ 487.
If you have information on their whereabouts please contact the El Dorado Police Department at (316) 321-9120 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-KS-CRIME.
