I'm with Goddard, it's a fantastic movie. I'm gay for Viggo.

when ever there's a twist like that, you're pretty much promised a rushed, predicatable, cheesy end; climaxing in a lame shootout in a factory that seems to make nothing but catwalks and steam.

    we didn't get that
    that made me happy

instead we got a very satisfying, quiet, and human end that really NOBODY saw coming for those very reasons

    Re: Eastern Promises

i loved the size of the story and how intimate it was but the part about the ending that i thought was a little lame was:

    Spoilers:
... the undercover cop thing. just seemed a little cliche to me. i would have much rather had him be a criminal and have had killed her uncle. they could have really had some great drama from that

    Spoilers:
But I think the tatoos are symbolic of him transforming into a new person. It still fits the "new flesh" theme that Cronenberg seems to have in all his movies.

so do you think it played into the "new flesh" theme?
