That would kick ass.
You probably didn't see this, cos I was slow getting it posted, but check it out.
I'll get back to you on this in a bit (at work). But Iggy Pop?! I'm fucking jealous.I've been really, really, really great!
My store is crazy busy these days, I've probably just about quadrupled my business since we last talked. So yeah, no complaints there! I've had a bucketload of great in-stores recently with Mike Carey, Ed Brubaker, Bill Willingham and lots of others. San Diego Comic Con was a fucking blast this year, met a ton of awesome folks (yes I saw Danzig), it was absolutely stress & drama free (yay!). Oh, I was also an Eisner judge too this which was really cool too.
In my non-comic world, I met both the one and only Iggy Pop & also the gorgeous Jane Wiedlin not too long ago - they were both really cool and that made me incredibly happy, I've finally scored an antique ray gun I've been wanting for years and completes my 1930's Daisy Buck Rogers collection, looks like I'm going to be vacationing for my birthday in Cancun this year (haven't been, looking forward to it), I got my beloved old car out of storage and back on the road only a few months ago, and my humble little heavy spacerock band has set up in a new practice spot and we've been laying down some hot tracks recently. Outside of work at the Isotope (which is my first and foremost passion) nothing makes me more happy than laying down tunes with my shitty band of space miscreants.
Life, as they say, is fucking good.
Up next on my confirmed-going-to shows list (I know how much you always like these) is:
Real McKenzies - August 21
Gogol Bordello - August 29
Social Distortion - September 9
Sugarhill Gang - September 13
Flipper* - September 14
The Donnas - September 19
Silver Apples* - September 20
(* - hell fucking yes!)
So... that's pretty much everything that's up with me recently. How are you, man? What's up with you these days?
James, I got some new mini comics I'll be sending your way soon! I'll probably email you when they're actually sent but I wanted to give you a heads up. Stay groovy, man!![]()
Thanks James. I hope you dug the book. You're one of the retailers who inspired us to try something so radically different, so, y'know... rock.
All of this can be yours.

Alright. Got laid off James!
Trying to scrounge up money to start up a computer company, trying to keep my head above water, get my "brainless" time in while I can, and wondering how the fuck you do it with style. You're a saint, James Sime.
So........
Does Iggy Pop smell like sweat? I always imagined he would.![]()
Awesome, that I like to hear. You know I dig your comics, man.
Hell fucking yes I liked it!
Everyone should pour themselves a stiff glass of Punks: The Comic. It's just the right shot of pure-grain kickass your weekend needs to get it rocking. And when you wake up with the burning in some stranger's bed next-town-over don't blame the comic... that's all your fault for being such a drunken fucking sleeze.
Hard times. I gotta tell you I can relate, I've been pretty down and out in my time. Believe it or not, I once survived on nothing but ketchup and pickled relish packets for weeks. As my old man would say it "builds character."
Starting up your own business? Nice!
That's a big, serious commitment, and I might not know you all that well, but I think you've got the fire to make it happen. So here is some nuggests of wisdom that have served me and my business well...
You are the greatest asset your business will ever have, work it for everything it's worth... and then work it for everything it's worth all over again. Take a stand in the eye of the hurricane and don't let anything ever knock you down no matter how much it throws at you. Keep your goals immense but make sure to celebrate the small victories every single day. As long as you are willing to work, fight, and fuck harder than anyone else out there you can make it work.
Iggy smells exactly like rock and roll should.
