Comics aren't real? Oh no! I've been bamboozled!
A friend I made over the summer's hanging in my room and see's my Wonder Woman and Batgirl posts and asks what that's about. I tell him "I love comics." He says "You know they're not real, right?"

well its not weird but rather common to female readers.
i was at work and i was talking comics to a co-worker when a customer came up and said "wow u read comics, i didn't think girls were into comics"
ugh, i don't know how many fucking times i've heard that. here's another one i hear every year in chicago, "are you here with your dad/brother/boyfriend?"
my stepdad was with me last year and phil hester said, "that's so nice of your dad to bring you with him to the convention."
i told him, "acutally, i'm the one that brought him. he doesn't even read comics."
phil got a real kick out of the whole thing.
there's been a few times when people have scoffed at me for liking comics, and i've really gone off on them. it's just insane the stigma that they still have with some people. i mean, when the 4 best shows on tv have all been made by major comic stars (bkv on lost, heinberg on greys, loeb on heroes, whedon on the office) and every blockbuster movie of the year is based on a comic, and major stars from both mediums all do comic work(patton oswalt, nicholas cage, john favreau), i think we would have finally shaken the stigma of 'comics being for nerds'. comic characters and stories are for everyone.
Wasn't he talking about the girls (Batgirl and Supergirl) not being real?
So should I cut the blue wire, the red wire or the FIESTA WIRE?
"Oh, there's no superheroes in this one"-when I made someone read The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
or my favourite
"Wow did he just rip Wolverine in half? Awesome all comics need people being ripped in half"- When I handed Ultimate Wolverine Vs Hulk to a friend because he heard it was written by the writer of Lost
