Its not that she changed the roster. I go off on a mini rant about Doug's death here. I really don't know if it adds anything.

If she'd have Sent Magma away and had Doug go off to regular school or just generally away so he wasn't around, that'd have been fine. I really enjoy Doug as a character. But the first half a year of her run, it seems like she was building to having Bird Boy join the team, as a Warlock type freak member. Instead, We get a character named Bird Brain that is just annoying as hell but can only talk to Doug. So the Mutants take him back to the isle of Dr. Moreau to have Doug unceremoniously killed. Seriously, the new mutants costumes aren't even a little bullet resistant? Kevlar was created in the 60's and known about in the 70's, so you'd think that Xavier would have something comparable in the standard issue uniforms he gives to undertrained b-team.

Additionally, I've read about a year of her stories on NM and she's established most of the team she'll have until Boomer and Rictor show up, and she just doesn't seem to use any of the characters other than Illyana. There was an issue that looked like it was going to focus on cannon ball and I think Magik got just as much face time and dialog as he did. And she spent 3/4 of the issue moping in the living room of the mansion.
