    Metallica - Master of Puppets
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast
Judas Preist - Screming for Vengence
    Slayer - Reign in Blood
    Black Sabbath - Paranoid

Ozzy's Blizzard of Ozz would also go on my list if there were more space

    Old School Picks:

    Judas Priest - British Steel
    Iron Maiden - Powerslave
    Accept - Restless & Wild
    Metallica - Kill 'Em All
Black Sabbath - Heaven And Hell

Newer stuff would include anything by Devin Townsend (especially Ocean Machine), Pharoah, Lamb Of God, Opeth, Brainstorm, Edguy, Into Eternity, Mercenary and so on...

Any list that's minus Reign in Blood and at least one Sabbath album is obviously quite flawed.

    Slayer - Reign in Blood

Black Sabbath - Paranoid - This list could be comprised of just Reign in Blood and the first four Sabbath albums but, just to keep it interesting, I'm gonna list only one Sabbath album.

Monster Magnet - Spine of God - For me, this is the definitive stoner rock/metal album of the modern age.

Mastodon - Remission - Yeah, it's that fuckin' good. Great blend of thrash, prog, and jammy stoner metal.

Clutch - S/T - This is the last truly 'metal' album Clutch ever put out. Brilliant from start to finish.

    5. Acid Bath - Pagan Terrorism Tactics

    4. Lamb of God - As The Palaces Burn

    3. Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power

    2. Death - Individual Thought Patterns

    1. Sepultura - Chaos A.D.

Or from someone who's heard a shitty cover of "Raining Blood" 300 too many times by some crappy band. The album is ruined for me.

I could also say the same as you for Acid Bath, Death, Sepultura, Maiden, At The Gates, Megadeth, Morbid Angel, Emperor, and on and on. There are far too many UNBELIEVABLE bands out there to say that Slayer or Sabbath have to be on there.

No one's mentioned Opeth yet (I'm disappointed in you Kraken...I may no be a fan, but someone's gotta represent Tonk here.)

Ha! The Bullgod scoffs at your list.

By the way, did you see my "Hey, Miguel Black" thread? Which show should I go to? Mastodon/Cult of Luna/Death By Stereo or Kreator/Vader/Death Angel? I'm really torn here.

    Ha!

No, I missed it (when was it?)

I'd go for Mastadon/CoL/DBS....but Vader is a band I've never seen live, and I wish to hell I could.

It depends on who you've seen, and who you havn't.

Leaning toward Vader because A) I've seen Mastodon before and B) Vader rarely tours the states. Still, I'm kinda torn 'cause I really dig Mastodon. Prolly goin' to Vader, though. Figures they've gotta fall on the same fuckin' night.

I dig. That's why I've never seen Vader. I jumped on the chance to catch Dark Funeral when they toured - I wasn't sure if I was ever going to get to see them again. I'm fucking glad I did, I tell you that.
