Because it's ridiculous. A comic book convention is not where you ask about carbon footprints, and a comic book company is not who you ask about carbon footprints. What does he want? Marvel writers carpooling to work? Printers powered by solar panels? Marvel is hardly a huge polluter.
No matter what, I don't think yelling "shut up" is appropriate, or particularly mature.

I think a con is the perfect place; it's a good issue to get out there publicly. Also, I think most of the publishing industry probably has a pretty large carbon footprint. The correct answer Buckley should have used is: digital comics!

Anyway...the rest of the panel didn't interest me much. the huge news is the Amazing and Astonishing creative teams, and that didn't show up here, though Favreau/Granov Iron Man sounds cool.

I really would like to see Mar-Vell get together will all his kids. It'd be really interesting, particularly since two of them were born after he died.

Also, he's got two gay kids and one that apparently sits on the fence.

But they're putting it out to people who aren't involved. Plus, I doubt that one person asking at SDCC will suddenly turn Marvel.

Buckley is somewhat involved as far as the actual publishing (apparently the question involved recycling of unsold copies).

Public pressure is pretty much the only way you get corporations to change their behavior.

Anyway, it's a better question than 99% of panel questions ("John Favreau, why didn't you cast someone with blue eyes as Tony Stark?").

Actually, the blue eyes had more joke potential, and I like panels to be fun

Yelling "shut up!" was classless, but I'm guessing that's commonplace. It may have been an important question, but it was also an inappropriate question.
