My best friend had a beagle forever, and it was the only dog that didn't bark at me when I walked down the block. It was super friendly, and was the dog that convinced me that I shouldn't be afraid of dogs. It was awesome.

Her name is Checkers. I got her at 5 months old in 2002.
She moved across the country from MD (where that picture was taken) to Seattle last year, and she's made the adjustment from outside dog (with a big yard to run around in) to inside dog (in a small apartment, on leashed walks) very well.
She also developed a nasty skin condition when we got here — some kind of allergy that we haven't been able to pin down yet. But that's not a breed thing, that's just her.
They're wonderful little dogs. But I do believe they need a lot of exercise.
well we got plenty of room for the would be puppy to run around.
Well, mine's not a purebred (she has a bit of basset hound in her, I think), but she's taken to being a slothful inside dog pretty well.
