both companys are putting out good books right now.
but pound for pound, DC is putting out the better books right now
MARVEL
DC
I swore this might have been asked, but I gotta know.
Which of the "Big Two" is producing better material these days?
And give examples of what you consider their "best" titles right now...

DC wins on account of Vertigo. Marvel is blowing DC away in superhero comics right now, but Vertigo is still the best line in comics, even during what can only be described as a creative valley for the imprint (they seem to be having trouble launching new titles, even if I do love Crossing Midnight).
Marvel, I guess. Although they're both getting a little irksome these days.
I do agree that DC's Vertigo line is putting out some great stuff.
Based on what I buy, DC wins handily if we're including imprints like Vertigo, Wildstorm and Icon. Marvel wins if we're just talking about shared superhero universes.
This space intentionally left blank.
Marvel's hypercontinuity is driving the distinct elements and fun out of their franchises.
DC has Morrison on Batman and All-Star Superman and Cooke on Spirit.
I am a superhero fan, so for me Marvel is where it is at. I respect what DC does for other types of comics quite a bit, but their superhero stuff makes me want to run screaming into the hills.
Titles I like for Marvel these days are Captain America (his death was done very well), Daredevil, all 3 Avengers titles, and the now dead Blade and Ant-Man. Marvel Comics Presents looks promising as well.
On whole, I like how Marvel is doing their event books and they seem to have a point to them with lasting ramifications.
Yes. When a b-level comic like She-Hulk has to work in Dissembled, Civil War, and World War Hulk, there's too much continuitizing going on. While she may be connected to the Avengers and Hulk, her departure to SHIELD as part of the registration cut her off from her entire supporting cast who were all based around the law firm. She-Hulk becomes the obligatory reactive element to the big crossovers, and her cast have to maintain the book's established humor and subplots.
They even shoehorned Civil war in Gaiman's Eternals mini.
On the other hand, you can read Morrison's Batman and encounter no mention of Crises or Countdowns.
Marvel's managed to co-opt some of the worst elements of DC's shared universe. I never thought I'd long for the day Thor and Magneto destroyed New York back to back and nobody noticed.
DC wins on the strength of upcoming creative teams(Sean McKeever on Teen Titans, for instance), fantastic b-list books(Blue Beetle, All-New Atom), and Vertigo.
