Man, I want a restored, remastered Smiths live concert DVD!

Man, these guys were awesome in their prime. Seeing them live fresh without knowing what to expect must have been something.:

Also, it's interesting to watch the above, which was 1986 and then see how timid Morrissey was on stage in 1983 when they started:

Who knew this guy would still be going, 24 years later?

You have to love the Smiths. They are an incredible band. It is too bad Morrissey and Marr won't get together to make music again (or just tour).

They both were much better with each other. (and he was a better writer during his years with the Smiths, too).
Dude. You so are not cut out for internet discussion boards. That lackadaisical, slack-arsed mindset might work "in the real world", but here on the net, small continuity errors and inconsistencies are the things a Jihad is made of. If you can't get spittle-froth at the corners of your mouth over the plot of a TV show, you're just owned.

The sad thing is that both are so fond of that time. Morrissey once said in an interview that the feeling of being on stage with The Smiths was as jolting as having a vacuum cleaner shoved up your rectrum. Marr has said he doesn't think The Smiths ever played a bad show. It's a shame they can't put their differences behind them. I've heard they don't even speak.

I love the Smiths as much as anyone, but I don't get fans of them who don't dig Morrissey solo stuff - it seems almost as if they don't want to like it. Yeah, some of it is uneven, but there's a lot of great material there.

Morrissy's solo debut album was the first CD I ever bought that was Smiths related. I followed that up with Rank, the live Smiths album, then got Louder Than Bombs, then the rest of The Smiths studio stuff. Now, since Morrissey's solo debut there have been uneven albums, yes, but some brilliant stuff as well. He can still sing, write clever, emotional lyrics and his band puts on a good live show.

I do too. Marr is my hero. Fucking love his guitar work. Maybe one day...

Morrissey's solo stuff is amazing too. Viva Hate, Vuaxhall and I, Your Arsenal, Southpaw Grammar and Maladjusted are some of my all time favorite albums. Sing your life is one of my favorite songs ever.

Viva Hate had such a life changing impact on me in terms of my tastes. It just completely blew my mind. This was the first CD I ever bought that was by someone not played on the radio and its unusual sounds and deep lyrics took me into a whole new world. Never heard anything like it. "The Ordinary Boys" was the first time I actually felt a song was about real people I knew ("Happy going nowhere, just around here") and "Late Night, Maudlin Street" was so fascinating and thoughful I was moved. I couldn't stop playing the album.

With the door opened, I then looked into other artists who were suppose to not be the norm and bought stuff by Elvis Costello, Joy Division, Cure and so on. Which lead me to seeking out unusal books and movies I'd hear mentioned by artists in interviews, broadening my tastes in all aspects of the arts and pop culture.

To this day I still like to seek out music which is different from the pack and it's lead me to many great discoveries. I like a good catchy hit song as much as anyone, but there's nothing like, say, a new Flaming Lips CD.

I just found out that on the June 29th David Letterman, Morrissey will perform his new single.

As well, June 29th will see the release of a Smiths documentary DVD with live footage!

    I think I'm having a geek orgasm!
