Agreed that World War Hulk rocked. I also enjoyed Nova, Punisher War Journal and New X-Men. I've gotten too lazy lately to write full reviews.

I fucking HOPE that Luke isn't a Skrull. Jessica too. The baby I'd be okay with, but not Luke or Jessica.

Justice 12- I really enjoyed it. This series got better as it went, and the art was always great. I really loved the shot of Wonder Woman where we see the effects Cheetah's poison has had on her.

Punisher War Journal 8- There's nothing wrong with this series, it's actually pretty darn good. But compared to Ennis' Punisher...

New X-Men 39- Holy shit!! This book never ceases to suprise me, that's for sure. The Darkchilde, Sym, N'astirh, AND Belasco? Fuck yeah.

Nova 3- It might be because I've always been a huge fan of Nova's, but this might be one of my favorite books Marvel is putting out right now. It was great seeing Richard beat the shit out of Moonstone, Radioactive Man, and Venom. I can't wait for next issue- Annihilation: Conquest!

Countdown 46- I wasn't feeling this series for the first few issues, but now that it's got it's feet under it, I'm starting to dig it. Next issue should be crazy.

New Avengers 31- already reviewed it on the official thread, but I dug it, for the most part.

World War Hulk 1- wow. Lived up to all of my expectations. JRJR is a fucking machine. Seeing Stark get his ass handed to him was the bee's knees.

World War Hulk 1: Very nice, art was great as JRJR always is. I wish they had shown more of the cooperation between the registered heroes and the unregistered heroes, and had a little more interaction between Spidey and She-Hulk (usually an entertaining pairing of characters), and maybe thrown in more appearances by Marvel Characters other than Hulk and the Illuminati overall. It doesn't quite feel like a full-on crossover yet, but I'm hoping that will change as the series (and tie-ins) progress. 8/10.

New Avengers 31: Holy hell, the possibilities of that ending are insane. See my post on the official thread for more of my thoughts. Also, LOVED the Spidey/Ronin interaction. Bendis writing those two characters, side by side in battle, is like a dream come true. 9/10.

Captain America 26: I don't know whether this had already come out and I just missed it, but I picked it up and read it this week. It was nice, but I'd like to have seen Sam's eulogy. I'll be getting this one regularly for a little while now to see where it goes. 7.5/10.

I'm still way behind on New X-Men, and I missed a few others that I planned on reading.

Avengers Classic#1 - 5/10: Loved the Oeming art in the first back-up story, but the main story itself left me cold, and Stan Lee's back-up was truly horrible.

Cable and Deadpool#41 - 8.5/10: Great stuff. A big shame about the death, but it was about time the reunion happened! I am keen to see where things go from here. I am a little confuised about chronology in relation to Sabretooth's whereabouts, and how it fits with the currently Wolverine arc. But then I am completely baflfled by the Wolvie arc anyway!

Exiles#95 - 6/10: I have loved this book a long time, but I worry that it is running out of juice. There are some elements of a fresh start in here, but I think it needs something to alter the formula radically. If I wasn't excessively loyal and a completist I would be considering dropping it if things do not improve soon.

New Avengers#31 - 9/10: I loved the art and the writing, as ever, and the big reveal, and question poser at the end. Oh the intrigue....

Nova #3 - 8/10: The interaction with Robbie was nice, but over a little bit too fast for my liking. And I really wanted more punches thrown before Richard discovered who Penance was. I am really enjoying this book so far, and hoping that its origins in Annihilation will stand it in good stead for staying around a lot longer than its last two incarnations.

World War Hulk#1 - 7/10: This was entertaining, and it was indeed good to see Stark get smashed around a bit. I actually thought that it some of JRJRs art was a bit wonky. In general, his Hulk looks so much better standing menacingly than when he is in motion - and there is something inconsistent about the facial structre too. Also, given the vitriol between Stark and the New Avengers, the whole amnesty thing if they help, is a bit naff, don't you think?

I also got my act together and bought the first three issues of Loners, which were great - 9/10, 8/10, 8.5/10 respectively. Everyone should be reading this!

Countdown #46 $2.99 –Mary fights a monster made out of dead babies? Well that’s just creepy! And Sleez? Wasn’t ever expecting to see him again. I’m really enjoying the Jimmy stuff. It’s just got that classic “Superman’s Pal” feel to it. Not sure how I feel about these Monitor agent things yet.

Green Arrow Vol 3 #75 $3.50 – Kind of weird that they are making Deathstroke a big GA bad guy, when he really can’t beat him. This is a guy that he really can’t beat. It also just sort of ran out of steam at the end.

Green Lantern Corps Vol 2 #13 $2.99 - Mogo sterilizes himself with an asteroid. Cool! I’ve really been enjoying the build-up to Sinestro Corps.

JLA Classified #39 $2.99 – This has been one of the better arcs in this book. It’s fun, and nice to see this team in action again.

Justice (DC) #12 Cover A Heroes $3.99 – I was a huge fan of this series and I’m gonna miss the heck out of it. It’s just classic stuff with beautiful art. (and Ch’p! Freakin Ch’p!) I hope the ending means that we’ll see a Legion series from this creative team.

Showcase Presents The Atom Vol 1 TP $16.99 – Fun!

Superman Batman #36 $2.99 – Not bad, maybe a little over complicated.

Trials Of SHAZAM #7 $2.99 – When will it end? When?

New Avengers #31 Regular Leinil Francis Yu Cover $2.99 – I’m not sure how I feel about the ending, but I liked everything leading up to it. (Hawkeye/Spidey? Heck yeah!)

World War Hulk #1 Regular David Finch Cover $3.99- Review thread.

    Re: Bought/Thought 6/13 (spoilers)

My lightest week in quite some time (five books).

    1) Countdown #46 -- I continue to be underwhelmed by this book. While a demon comprised of baby fetuses is ingeniusly creative and highly disturbing, that's just about the only think I enjoyed in this issue. I buy this series for two reasons: 1 - I was scared if I didn't follow it, I would be lost on the events of the DCU and 2 - Jason Todd (big fan). However, 1, I don't care about much anymore now that I've dropped most DCU titles outside the Bat family, Birds of Prey, JLA, and Teen Titans, and 2 - Jason Todd is a supporting character in an expansive cast. To get the amount I'd want, he'd need to have his own book. I'm not saying this is a bad title. Far from it. It just isn't what I want, and with my dwindling interest in the DCU outside the Bat-Family, I have no incentive to continue buying this. Phenomenal art by Jesus Saiz and some clever dialogue by Palmiotti and Gray. 5/10

    2) Gen 13 #9 -- Since the first arc, this series has fallen in a (rather enjoyable) pattern; use one of the kids to narrate a stand-alone issue to display their own personality and how they've grown and how they're coping with the chaos as well as their own inner feelings on the bonding between their teammates. So as one of the members narrates the happenings while giving the reader a strong feel for their distinct personality, the plot slowly advances. Here, we get a feel for Sarah Rainmaker, whose strife with being a Native American and homosexual brings the insanity of the Gen program down to earth and maintains the teen agnst this book does so well in the face of action. I like the whole "on-the-run" direction Gail has taken this book in, but it's her ability to flesh these kids out and give them a real sense of comordity that makes this a damn fine book. Oh, and Carlo Barberi is just wonderful on this title. His exaggerated, animated look captures both the youth and the energy of Simone's scripts. 8/10

    3) New Avengers #31 -- I've yet to read a less-than-stellar issue of New Avengers, and I've read all 31 of them. I loved the revelation that
    Spoiler:
    Elektra was a skrull
and the world of possibilities it opens up for the entire MU. Some will say "it's a cop out." I believe it's Bendis building suspense and writing like this is a detective thriller with one huge clue that branches out to a million different scenarios. Another extended fight scene, but Leinil Yu draws them in such a gritty, epic fashion I could read a whole arc of ninja battles. Oh, and Ronan and Spidey verbally sparing? Priceless. 10/10

    4) Stormwatch PHD #8 -- Gage lulls us into a false sense of security in this issue...AGAIN! He did this a few issues ago when allowing to flesh out the characters more throughout the duration of the script until the end when he yanks the floor from under us. The murder mystery angle is interesting, but it's the relationships and interaction between Prime and PHD that makes this issue. Gotta say, while the artist, Andy Smith's art is servicable, it's rather generic superhero stuff and pails in comparison to the sketchy, organic, and unique look Doug Mahnke had on this title. It will be sorely missed. 7/10

World War Hulk #1 --Pick of the Week-- I wrote up a treatise on how this was my favorite comic in months in the review thread. To paraphrase: It just felt epic, while morally ambiguous and much more layered than the typical summer blockbuster...with gorgeous art. 10/10
