Y'know, considering how much trouble recruiters are having and how they keep extending everyone's commitment in the service, a radical solution to getting more soldiers would be opening the armed forces up to openly gay folks now.

I wonder if that would get in more recruits or not, given the ongoing conflict.

Yeah, but why would they fight for freedom if their country doesn't even respect them and give them full freedom? It's the same argument militant african Americans used during Vietnam and the like, and in some instances, I tend to see their point quite clearly.
