I heard they're already doing this in Europe and the rest of the world because they're "not familiar with the Double Feature".

So you're saying that you think this decision is completely motivated by monetary concerns?! Well, duh.

But honestly, I think most of the people that would pay to see the individual movies after already having seen GRINDHOUSE are the type of persons that were probably planning to pay to see GRINDHOUSE a second or third time anyway.

Re: GRINDHOUSE Re-release "in a couple of weeks"?

The three top movies at the box office were 89 minute, PG family movies. Grindehouse was a 3 hour 11 minute hard R-rated horror movie. Can't say I'm shocked at the box office results.

With all due respect to the legions of QT fans on these boards...

Death Proof ruined the whole experience because:

    a) it was nothing like a grindhouse film

    b) the dialogue rambled on incessantly and the audience I watched it with made their move to the exits when NOTHING HAPPENED for 15 frickin minutes

But I never laughed so hard at a movie as I did while watching the trailers... which were all PERFECT. (I seriously would've paid ten bucks just to watch trailers.)

These two comments betray your ignorance of grindhouse.

i would've prefered not having to see 'planet terror'. i can't believe how unentertaining that whole thing was.

honestly, i'm not interested in seeing these movies as either a double feature or on their own in a theater. i'd rather wait for the unrated dvd release and watch them in the pleasure of my own home with good company where i can talk all kinds of shit to the screen and be as loud and obnoxious as i want to be, just like the experience of watching a b movie should be.

although i might go see a midnight showing or a drive-in if eiyther of those were an option.

I lived in grindhouses. Quiz me all you like. I've seen them all...

including Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry and White-Line Fever. (Seen 'em?)

QT's characters TALKED about the genre a bit...

but they did not walk the walk.

Death Race 2000 and the like are all about action... not dialogue. Two-thirds of QT's flick was all talk and no action.

The PROOF of the pudding is in the eating, and the audience had no stomach for Death Proof (which is kinda ironic).

OUATIM had a hot, post-Pirates Johnny Depp, who was heavily featured in the movie's advertising. Kill Bill had the novelty of being the first Tarantino movie in years.
