Final Thoughts on the Emerald City Con...

This is my last thread on this, I promise.

It was a small, but fun show...with one of the best guest lists I've ever seen.

Phil Hester – Thanks for taking the time to do the interview, which was a learning experience for me. I’m looking forward to seeing that commission in San Diego, too.

Ande Parks – Thanks for the great interview about the under-appreciated art of inking. Thanks also for the whiskey shots. Kinda sad I missed you at the end of the show, but there’s always San Diego…

Andy Kuhn – A pleasure to finally meet you. Loved the Doom sketch. I’ll probably hit you up for an MTU page next time…

Sean 'Cheeks' Galloway – Always great to see you, Cheeks. I’ll work on setting up a San Diego Drink & Draw…

Jeremy Haun – One of my favorite people. Congrats on the gig, thanks for the awesome commission piece, and keep those Cap/Iron Man pages safe for me…

Jason Latour – I can’t wait to see the Emma Frost sketch. It was great talking to you and watching you work.

Steve Lieber – Loved the Magneto sketch, sir. I loved all the pieces you drew for the CBLDF draw-off.

Jamie Rich – Good seeing you again, sir. Too bad I didn’t get a chance to snap a photo with you…

Randy from Oni – It was good to chat with you. I'm loving the stuff you guys continue to put out.

John from Comic Book Ink - One of the friendliest folks I've ever met, I hope you guys get another Eisner nom. If anything, it's a good excuse to hang out in San Diego.

Shane White – Thanks for the Magneto sketch, I look forward to reading OVERMAN.

Brian Reed - It was nice to meet you. Thanks for the great interview, I learned stuff and got to talk up my favorite subject in Marvel comics: The Illuminati.

    R. Amtower - Who the fuck?! That's your real name!? I thought it was just a great handle. How convenient. It was good to meet you and your wife.

Kat Amano - I wasn't expecting to see you there, but it's always great to see a friendly face once you walk into a con. I look forward to the next time.

Mark Bagley - Thanks for the great impromptu interview. Thanks also for all the hard work you put into your comics. I look forward to your Mighty Avengers work.

Gail Simone – Thank you for the great interview, and for being a fun, positive person.

Ed Brubaker – It was good to see you again, sir. I had a good time chatting up Criminal with you. Hopefully we can do the interview somewhere down the road.

Jen Grunwald - Great to finally meet you. And I think you're a great panel moderator.

Alex Maleev – It’s always good to see you, sir. I love your work, and I love watching you work. It inspires me to become a better artist. Thanks for the amazing commission sketch. I don’t think I can ever let a con pass me by without buying something from you.

David Mack - Always a pleasure to see you, I hope you enjoy the little 'gift.' Thanks for always being generous.

Mike Oeming - If I was ever to lose an arm-wrestling match, I'm glad I lost to you. Thanks for the generosity, it's truly appreciated. You ever need anything, I got your back.

Brian Bendis - Thanks for the fun little interview, and for being extremely generous. Not just to me, but to the other guys from the board. I hope you liked the little gift...it's not much, considering all the great reading I've gotten from you over the years.

Christian Beranek - The man of a thousand cons. Is there no place you won't go? Good seeing you again, as always.

Taki Soma - Good seeing you again, my friend. You got me hooked on those damned Coffee Crisps. Please keep that YND page safe for me until our next meeting...

Lauren & Melanie - It's a shame we never got to really hang out, but there's a lot more cons coming up where I can make up for it.

Jade & Matt - Good seeing you both, as always. I hope to see you in San Diego.

Agent Desmond – The dude abides, sir. The dude abides. Anyone who can appreciate bad ‘80s action flicks is tops in my book.

ReporterSteven – Nice to meet you. I wish I came up with that sketch idea for my Powers hardback.

Tim Daniel - A pleasure to meet you, our chat was way too brief, unfortunately. Hopefully I'll run into you again soon.

David Aspmo - It's pronounced 'Auss-mo', right? Nice meeting you, too.

Cloud Dancer - Glad to see you made it to the show okay. Thanks for stopping by the drink-up. I hope the con was good to you as it was to me.

Tibbitz - I was not expecting to see you there, but I'm glad you came along anyway. Good seeing you there.

    And finally, to my roomies...

Adam Witt - Dude, it was good seeing you again, and rooming with you. Always remember: I never leave anyone hanging. Chicago can't get here soon enough.

Hock - Fucking Canadian. How many times did you CanadiOWN people over the weekend, eh? What was that aboot? Good meeting you, I hope to see you again at a con this year.

Chris Page - Our generous host. Thanks for being the wheelman, and for keeping it all together. I look forward to the next time.

Jew Mafia – Brother, it was fun sketch-hunting with you. I really, really hope that I get to hit up one of the Kansas shows so we can hang out again, and have some real barbecue.

Thanks again, everyone. After weeks upon weeks of crap being heaped upon me, I can always count on a good con...and good people from here, to raise my spirits.

    Philly's next.
