I thought it was a clever little piece of satire. Funny but still poignant. Dug the art, too, despite the fact that Veitch gave certain characters weird looking pig noses in various panels.
Score: 7/10
It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything too spectacular either. Kudos to Veitch for the concept, and I really dig how this is set in a "not too distant future" that I can totally see happening.
That said, I thought the art was a bit inconsistent, and the story didn't really grip me as much as I would have liked. I know it's supposed to be satire but it read as a kind of chuckle-worthy parody.
Anyway, I'll get the second issue because that's my rule unless the book is total shit, and this most definitely wasn't.
I'd say it was just a little bit above "meh."

For me it was too over the top. I like satire thats a bit more grounded in reality, something that could actually happen, this reminded me of Death to Smoochy and American Dreamz.
I give it a 5.
There was a bit too much satire for me in this

This was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the satire and thought the art was good. A tad over the top at times, but I'm interested enough to try out the next issue (or more likely pick up the first trade).

ARMY @ LOVE #1 - by Rick Veitch w/ Gary Erskine - I'm thinking I'm not a big fan of Rick Veitch's work. I read it thinking I'll like it, but I'm never wowed by it. I read it and feel nothing one way or the other.
I'm curious what the deal is with Switzer's husband and all that cash you see in the house.
The cell phone calling her husband was clever and thought he captured the emotion of Mr. Switzer's feelig of betrayel quite well. I also thought it was interesting how he was hurt by her betrayel, but all along he'd already done the same; of course his could have been in response to suspicion as to what goes on when she's gone, or just out of loneliness.
His drawing of her on Page 8, Panel 1 was obnoxious, with her tongue sticking out; didn't really get that decision.
I love the concept, but the execution leaves me cold.

I thought issue two was better. I'm sticking with it.
My store didn't get issue two. I was planning to stick with this a few issues, but if they don't have it for me next week, I doubt I'll have the initiative to hunt it down, given how lukewarm I was on #1.
