One week of rehearsal was quite enough for 60-year-old Vincent Pastore, who announced Wednesday that he has dropped out of the competition. A press release from ABC cites "the physical demands of the 10-week season."
"When I initially committed to joining 'Dancing with the Stars,' I didn't realize just how physically demanding it would be for me. Unable to put forth my best effort, I felt it appropriate to step aside and give someone else the opportunity," Pastore, best known for his role as Sal "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero on "The Sopranos," said in the statement.
The decision was welcomed by the show's executive producer, Conrad Green, who prefered it happen sooner rather than later.
"We're sad that Vincent felt he was unable to continue in the competition, as he would have been great on the show -- but we appreciate him standing aside now rather than having to withdraw later," Green said in the statement. "
'Dancing with the Stars' is physically demanding and it pays to know your limits. We respect his decision."
The ABC program, which in the past has featured Jerry Springer, Emmitt Smith, Mario Lopez and Tucker Carlson, boasts another interesting lineup for its fourth season. Joey Fatone, Heather Mills and Billy Ray Cyrus remain.
