Edgar Wright on the status of ANT MAN and SCOTT PILGRIM

As if one script wasn't enough, he's also got two comic book adaptations on his plate. The first, Ant Man, "is in a bit of a holding pattern" as the script is developed, but there should be more word soon. The pic will be about a biochemist who develops an instrument that allows him to communicate with and control insects. As for the other, he's also teaming up with Sean O'Malley on Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, which is in the early idea stage. That one is basically about a man named Pilgrim, who starts dating a new girl and must battle her seven evil exes.

wait Scott Pilgrim is gonna be made into a movie?

Don't get me wrong...I like the book, and would be glad to see it become a film...I honestly don't see how it would transition well.

    What a terribly ill-informed article.

It is Bryan Lee O'Malley, not Sean O'Malley.

And it is farther along than an "idea stage". It is an adaptation of the comics and the first draft of the screenplay (by Edgar Wright and Michael Bacall) has already been written.

I think it could transition well, but I think there would be more musical-ish and wild action movie stuff rather than video game references. Altough all of that could be cool.

Ant Man will never happen. There's just no way.

If they don't screw up Scott Pilgrim, I seriously think it could be a movie for a generation. It's one of THOSE properties. My favorite indie comic ever.

    It's....Ant-man.

Has he ever even been able to sustain an ongoing? They're doing the best take on him ever(which won't be what the movie is about, I guarantee you), and it'll still probably be Nextwaved before the year is out! If it can't sell 50000 copies to comic book fans, who would spend 50 million to make it into a movie?

Who would want to see a movie about a creepy guy who runs a chocolate factory? If they get the right script, director and cast it would work.
