Dan writes JLA now? Damn. I don't read DC, but it's Dan. I'm not sure how I feel about this.
Suprised that this hasn't appeared yet, so I thought I would do one myself.
Well I thought that the set-up of this new villain is one of the best I have read in years. The premise is absolutely great. Basically this guy gets to live his life again and again, and choose the best outcome, then continue on from that spot. Kind of like some sort of a mix between Groundhog Day and gambling. It is almost like having a save point in a video game.
Looks to have a lot of potential for (presumably) the next three issues.
What did you guys think?

I have mixed feelings about this. I do love Dan's work. But I have absolutely no interest in the JLA or it's members.
My mixed feelings come directly from knowing that Dan only wrote the first part in full, and the rest is scripted by Dan Jurgens. As such, I forgot this came out this week, and left the comic shop without even seeing it.
This is my favorite JLA Classified arc yet. And this is coming from a guy who has had trouble getting into Dan's work in the past.

I finally got it - at first I picked up #33, remembering only that I was after a JLA Classified issue, and seeing Slott's name on the cover, then I read it and realised it wasn't the start of the arc. But in spite of now having read the first two issues backwards, I thoroughly enjoyed them. I've never been a JLA reader - never really got to grips with Wonder Woman, and I need a heroine to follow in any title - but really this looks to be all about the villain, so that's neither here nor there, and I like the villain. There's that tiny element of 'everyman' in him - we all aspire to be noble, but who hasn't, at some point, daydreamed about using powers for personal gain? And so far, everything Profitt has done for himself has rewarded him, so as much as it's creepy and horrible that he winds up having people killed without a thought, it's not really difficult to see how he got there.
It was a bit disappointing that Dan didn't/isn't writing the whole arc, but it's the concept of Profitt that's got me hooked at the moment - given a capable writer, I think that'll still come across loud and clear.
#32 was also a neat reminder of one of the things I adore about Dan's comics: even taking into account the extra pages, wow he packs a lot of story in. I got to the part where the JLA took down Doctor Destiny and the materioptikon dropped into Profitt's lap, and suddenly realised "Holy crap, this story's just starting!" Any of the other comics in my week's haul - good titles, mind you, that I feel I get my money's worth out of (well, put a question mark over Supergirl, but at least it looks to be picking up a bit) - the story would have been half-way finished by then.
This arc has been quietly becoming very interesting. The last two issues in particular were excellent. Can't wait to see how it ends and for the Red King to get his ass handed to him by the Justice League.
