Does Marvel offer tours of their offices? Or anything to fans that come to New York?
Me and the wife are talking about going to New York for a vacation later this year and, I was wondering if Marvel offered anything. I figured since there were some marvel employees here they might be able to help me out.

I can't believe that nobody has an answer for this question
I walk by Marvel nearly once a week for work. I'd love to know.

I think there was a thread about this for a while and Jen or someone chimed in and talked about it for a bit. I think basically is they used to, but no one has come by in a long time asking for a tour so it just died.

It's rare. I got lucky and someone arranged it for me because I did a favor for him. Doesn't mean you can't get one, you just need ask around.

They always say it's just a plain office, and cubicles aren't that interesting to look at.

As many comic people that come on this board, you'd think we could at least get the hook-up.

The appeal to me would be to see some artists drawing stuff or bump in Bendis or the likes. Maybe say hi to someone who talks on the board or something.

They did to me. When I was in eight grade I traveled with my parents and they took me around the offices. Gave me free comics and some official comic blank pages but that was many moons ago.

Oh yeah, I'd go too. I just don't think it's set up for anything like this.

I'm working on an issue slated for March where Lily and I head to New York. It was my first-ever trip to NY and we went to David Letterman's show (I got to chat with Dave before the show!) and we got to visit the Marvel offices.
This was before they moved locations and we got to see the old bullpen. It was pretty much just offices, but Spider-Man gave us the tour! We got to be great friends with the guy in the Spidey suit.
Just call and ask if you can visit.

I'd plan a whole NYC trip around seeing Marvel & DC, and Letterman & Conan. I hope the "eyes of the industry" see this thread and hook us up.

You could always sneak past security.

I don't believe they give these tours anymore though.
What could please a kid more than a great comic book? How about seeing how they are made?
Marvel Comics gives tours of their studios to twenty people at a time -- a fascinating experience for children and adults alike. To top it off, the tours are FREE.
There's only one catch: the tours are conducted once per week. Being a hot item, such a tour must be booked very far in advance -- as much as six months to a year. For those that can plan that far ahead it's a great deal. There is a stand-by list, however, and groups do cancel. A group on the stand-by list should be prepared to take the tour on very short notice.
On a tour day individuals can also walk in and participate in a tour, if there is room in a scheduled group tour. The tour can accommodate up to 20 people only, no exceptions.
Hours: Tours on Fridays at 11am.
Admission: FREE.
Reservations: 6 months to 1 year in advance. If interested, get on the stand-by list.
Lunch: Nearby restaurants.
Handicapped: Not accessible.
Directions: Located on Park Avenue South at 21st Street.
Time: 45 minutes south from the George Washington Bridge
Dude, just show up in a Spiderman costume, and walk around the office like you own the fuckin place.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Where's that sense of entitlement thread???
Judge: Mr. Simpson, do you have anything to say for yourself?
Homer: Yes, I do. I believe that famous people have a debt to
everyone. If celebrities didn't want people pawing through
their garbage and saying they're gay, they shouldn't have
tried to express themselves creatively.
Homer: In closing, you people must realize that the public owns you
for life! And when you're dead, you'll all be in
commercials, dancing with vacuum cleaners. Thank you, your
honor.
Yep.

I'd LOVE to visit that office one day. It's one of the things I always wanted to do when I was a kid.

Jen Grunwald would be there, and if you're really lucky, you might catch her talking on the phone to a comic book writer or artist!
THAT Sean!

I don't think Marvel's had tours since moving from Park Avenue South.

None. Well, technically, Joe Q. But you are correct, they all work from home. So coming here is pretty boring.
But yes, you might catch me on the phone with the likes of Paul Jenkins! ;-) haha
:rogue:
PS I really don't know about tours...

You should bribe Jen to get you in.

So that's who sent those flowers to Jen... someone trying to bribe her to get a tour of the office.
