Hey, Adi--just wanted to thank you for the amazing sketch you did for me last weekend at the Toronto con. I was the one who showed you the stuff in the sketchbook that followed your own piece, and later saw you at David Mack's table.
So, thanks.

Haha, cool, I am really glad you like it.
I was doing these so fast cause I didn't want to dissappoint anyone waiting for one. But I think next time I'll make somekinda list for people to sign up for and do maybe 20-30 in a day but spend more time on each and be able to do full blown drawings instead of these quick head shots.

Totally understandable... Would you happen to have a sample of the "full blown drawings," for people to see the difference?

Something like this maybe:

Did this for my good friend Jim who then, because of the inspiration this sketch gave him, went on to become the new marketing director for Image. And I am linking this image from his server because I am a filthy thief.

Next time you're in Toronto... I'm so putting my name down... Charging for something like that, right?
Hotlinking kicks ass!

Damn Adi, that is an awesome Thing! Invisible Girl's nipples aren't that bad either.

Nah, I don't charge for sketches. People who come to cons buy my comics and it's a small way for me to show my appreciation. The only time I charge is when people want something other than what I am offering. For instance if I am only doing quick headshots and they insist on something that will take me 30 min, then I have to make everyone else wait, or do it over night, then yeah, for that I'll charge. But if I set out only to do 30 min drawings and have a list then it's free since everyone who signs up knows they'll have to wait a little longer.

Damn, that sounds great. For the record, I definitely didn't mind forking some $$ over to ACTOR for it.
Going to try and get the other sketches up tonight....

Wow, both the Tony Stark and FF sketches are great. I got an Iron Man myself, it was awesome.
I'll totally be watching for that list next time you're at a con up here.

Would the full blown drawings be something you would do at the ACTOR booth, just with one character?

Well, I have to say that if I was setting up at cons to do business, if I was getting my own table and the goal was promotion and profit, then ofcourse I would charge. But since I go to cons either to have fun or if I am an invited guest (when everything is paid for) the least I can do is do some sketches without charge.
One of the things that impressed me from the start and made me want to be that way is Bendis and his gracious willingness to sign humongous piles of comics and talk to and be incredibly nice to everyone in his lines. That just impressed the hell outta me and every time I feel grumpy at a con I think of him. We live pretty cool lives because people like our comics so it would be pretty lame to disrespect our audience.

Glad you look up to Bendis when it comes to the cons. I brought up 34 books to him to get signed, and he signed them all with a big smile on his face. I brought up 14 to you, and you also had a smile on your face. BTW, that was a very nice piece you did for Warren Ellis. You drew him boobies... ha! But in all seriousness, that was a great piece. Even liked the reaction Warren gave once you told it was for him.

I like your sarcasm.
In all honesty, I did have my reasons for doing this:
1)I'd never figured out my digital camera and was excited. It's a complicated bitch. And the software's fucked up. So I was happy I got it to work.

I love Jim's sketchbook. It's always a joy seeing the new stuff he gets after each con.
