When we last saw them, they were fighting Deadpool. They had registered the first day as heroes, wanting to be recognized as such. But aside from that, they've been conspicuously absent from Civil War. Everyone else has a place. I'd really like to see Mr. Immortal's take on things. I really can't see him going along with things the way they were going, heroes being killed and imprisoned. Civil War is just about over now, so it's unlikely we'll see any such thing. But I've always had the utmost respect for Craig, and I'd love to see more of him and how he's keeping the team going through these tough times.

The GLA is conspicuously absent from most Marvel events. They're a bit put out that they never get called in. (They only sneaked into the Poker Tournament by tagging along with Squirrel Girl!)

I'd like to think that now they're a licensed super hero team, working for the government, they can use the Avengers moniker again.

I can understand their absence - let's face it, the GLA's particular brand of heroism wouldn't really mesh too well with most of Civil War, on a storytelling level. Deadpool was a good choice, the humour already there made the GLA's inclusion feel right at home, but it's difficult to imagine them popping up in the miniseries or Front Line.

I think it's a crying shame that there wasn't a Squirrel-Girl-centric GLA segment in Choosing Sides, though - we got Howard the Duck, but not Squirrel Girl  And given how ambivalent Choosing Sides was about showing characters actually choosing their sides - they mostly seemed to just haphazardly end up there - SG could've anchored the entire book. Imagine her dilemma - crushing on Speedball, idolising Iron Man, no doubt wanting to do the right thing by the law, but torn up every time she'd turn on the TV and see zealots branding Robbie a monster while they advocate registration. There's not a lot of authors I can think of who could take a concept like that and make it work simultaneously as deep, anguished drama, and oddball comedy, but Dan could. Think of the mix of lunacy and lucidity in the GLA miniseries, where Squirrel Girl gave her tearful eulogy to Monkey Joe. I don't know whether the opportunity to write this will ever arise now, but I think not approaching Dan to do it for Choosing Sides was a huge missed opportunity.

...then again, maybe Marvel's saving the GLA for the final issue of World War Hulk

(That gave me an idea for a What If: what if the GLA went anti-reg, and SHIELD got more and more desperate as every attempt to bring down SG failed? World War Squirrel Girl!)

Dan, you MUST pitch this for the next round of What if...?'s.

Imperative.

It would ROCK!

Wow indeed. She'd kill everyone. And it would just leed to her constantly killing Mr. I over and over again.
