Our new guy I have no clue about. He might see us as incompetent and pull our contract meaning I no longer have a job til my company can find one.

But We have 9 cameras in this place. They are all shitty and all on the entrances. This is an 8 level public garage attached to a performing arts center. We are responsible for 7 levels. With one Guard on Duty at a time, it's nigh impossible for us to catch anyone unless we see them do it. I specifically told my boss today I was going to patrol our problem floors after Traffic control because that's the time the last few break-ins have happened. I patrolled for 2 and a half hours and then did more traffic control for a run out, took my lunch then went to do my last patrol and FUCK Broken Window, no radio stolen but I have no idea what was. End of my shift and I did my report told my boss and told my relief. We also patrol this garage on foot.

Bringing your own story to these narratives-as-revision is an interesting aspect of post modernism tales, which is what I was riffing on having read lots of Coover and Barthelme at the time of writing it. That said, my intent was not to point out how people outside of fandom view Batman and Robin's relationship, either, so you were quite right about that. Mostly, I was just riffing on the inherent problems of taking a 12-year-old boy to patrol the city and train to be a vigilante, and illustrate the various mindstates that would allow for such a thing, from Robin's point of view. (And I wrote this well before ASB, btw.)

Since I graduated in May of 2004, all I wanted was to come to Chicago and live with my friends. And now I’m here, and I’ve been here for five months or so. And I love my friends, but the honeymoon’s over, so to speak. I feel very anxious lately. Something’s missing and I can’t put me finger on it. I got what I wanted and now that I have accomplished what I set out to do, I’m lost. I have nothing to strive for.

But I do have goals and areas to focus on. I don’t make new year’s resolutions but I had five areas of my life I wanted to focus and improve on this year. Thus far, I’ve worked on one of those five.

I think a lot of it has to do with my job. I’m not in love with it, so maybe it’s time for something new. But then here we go again with me looking for my sixth job since graduation.

And now that I’m here in Chicago all I want is to go to law school, back in St. Louis.

So, I’m not really sure what’s wrong.

To me, the biggest mistake people make is that they don't realize the good times, until the good times are in the past. Whether you did that back in St. Louis, or if you're doing that in Chicago now, is for you to figure out.
