I am watching this right now again. I really enjoy vampire movies for the most part, and I always hear alot of people say how awesome this movie is. But I have to say this movie bites (excuse the bad pun) One of the worst vamp movies I have seen.

If someone actually thinks this is one of the best vampire movies out there, or even in the top 5 I would like to hear why? The acting sucks, the special effects are not anything special, the plot is lame and has no imagination.

I'm all ears.

No Mahogany?

I liked the movie. It's no Oscar winner. And I could care less what people think. I just turn my brain off and enjoy the awesomeness that is the badness.

I've never heard anybody talking about this movie period.

Casting that soap opera guy as the main vampire was as bad as casting choice as Stephen Dorrf in Blade.

The movie sucks ass.

The novel, Vampire$ by John Steakley, is one of the best action novels ever written. Same with his other novel, a sci-fi novel called Armor.

Fine. Alittle maybe

And I'm the same way I care less, but it just amazes me cause the people who love this act like its the holy grail of vampire movies.

And I have heard it pretty often actually.

Novels always are better, I shud pick up the novel and read it so I can see how this was suppose to be.

I hate people like that. I knew a guy going around telling me Death to Smoochy was the best movie of our generation.

I liked it but come on. People who hype movies like fucking crazy ruin them. I'll recommend it as a good action popcorn flick. But not a great Vampire movie.

8 Mile got over hyped for me when I saw it. I was like, It's good but come on, it wasn't absolutely friggin amazing like donkey balls!

8 mile actually surprised me cause I had heard it was utter shit.

I thought it was a good flick and enjoyed it a good deal. I didnt go dye my frigging hair and start rappin or anything.

But I did enjoy the show, dontcha know.

The book is better.

I do like the movie though. It's fun, simple a great way to kill 100 minutes.

This movie pales in comparison to Carpenter's best work, and was a big letdown for me when I saw it. But I've never heard anyone rave about how great it is.

Vampire fans should stay away.

Best vamp movie ever: Near Dark.

Far behind is second, Lost Boys/Dracula/Dusk til Dawn

and the novel Vampire$ is also quite different from the movie. A shame really. A real shame.

i thought the idea for VAMPIRES had potential ( a vatican sanctioned vampire hit squad) but the execution was weak. to me the most interesting parts were the behind the scenes politics and back stabbing within the vatican. it seemed that they barely touched on these aspects and mostly just hung out in a hotel room in the american southwest!

You should definately give the novel a try then, they cut and changed it significantly (and all for the worse). The novel is closer to what you are looking for.

Same here. i really dug the idea behind it. As did alot of other people in the world. i mean, c'mon! Just look at how many animes have taken that idea and ran with it. But aside from that i actually like the movie. i know it's terrible writing and terrible acting. But look at Big Trouble In Little China. Another terrible movie with terrible writing and acting, but you like it. Not every movie has to be a great piece of cinema history. Sometimes we need the cheesy movies because we need a break from out frantic lives. Me personally, i love a great cheesy movie. And if you like loads of crap blowing up, with bad puns and bad actors. And you know you shouldn't like these movies, but you do, then you should check out this movie. It's not great. But in it's own way, it is good.
