Stallone, if he wasn't as recognizable and iconic as he is - if he was an unknown - would be a great Punisher.
Garth Ennis Max version. Older, but still well built with a beat up face and sad/pissed glare in his eyes.
Too bad he's not 6'

i'm not so sure that would work in a movie though.
although he almost sorta kinda made it work in rocky balboa. so who knows.

I, in fact, do agree with you.
Of course I also think the Punisher blows.

It works in a comic, but not in a movie?
I don't see a difference. Both tell visual stories and involve a lot of suspension of disbelief.

i think it worked in the comic because the character had been been around for awhile and had been built up into this unstoppable superhero type force. in a movie you don't have that going in.

My first and only encounter with Punisher in comics so far has been the MAX series. They did a good job of telling the origin, and making him seem unstoppable and feared.
In one graphic novel.

He'd have also made a good Judge Dread if he had left the damn helmet on :-x

Correction dude, he would have BEEN Judge Dredd if he'd left the helmet on
And I also agree, Stallone would've been a damn good Punisher. Hell, if they'd cast him in the original version, I think that movie could've been passable.

Didn't Garth Ennis pick Stallone to play the Punisher in a Wizard casting call a few years back?
So someone agrees with you.

All that build up, the hype around, "OMG!11!1 Dredds tking of his sasc!!!1"
And then he did, and he looked just like Sylvester Stallone.
