I watched this once about eight or ten years ago and thought it was excellent. Looking around the Internets, I don't see many people holding it in high regard. So is it really not as good as I remember or is it just under-appreciated?

i can't understand why Ralph Bakshi's praised by so many people at all, i've never seen anything even halfway decent from him (i have not seen American Pop, so it could be amazing for all i know)

I saw that in the theater and it's really shitty now.

I liked American Pop a great deal. Although if you watch it literally, it basically says that all rock music has evolved into Bob Seger.

Not bad in my book.

I saw it about 20 years ago when I was a teenager. I hated it then. I gotta echo Goddard here, I don't understand any of the praise Bakshi's gotten for the films of his I've seen. I haven't seen Fritz the Cat, though.

I had no need for him after seeing his version of Lord of the Rings...

I remember having liked it the one time I saw it almost a decade ago. I don't know that I'd feel the same way if I watched it again today.

I forgot about Fire and Ice, damn. Did Frazetta write any of that?

my understanding is that they originally tried to use springsteens music but he turned them down. it prolly would've been a little better with boss tunes but it still woulda been a stupid movie.

Pretty experimental, but yeah, not enjoyable.
