Aaaaargh! Stupid Computer!

So I was working on a short story last night and things were going well to the point I was sleepy. So I went to bed with the computer on so when I woke up this morning I could tinker with the story before work. When I wake up I have discovered my computer had restarted some time during the night and I've totally lost the document because I was so much in the flow of the story I forgot to save. Now I've got to redo the stuff.

I had that happen the other night on a big torrent I was downloading over night - Windows did an update of itself and re-booted. Did you open the word processing program - there may be an autosave of the story still there....

Yeah checked that. Even looked at document recovery and no story there.

If you think that's bad (which it is), listen to this...I have stuff on my laptop that I haven't backed up yet. Important stuff like university papers and what not but also things of sentimental value. One day out of the blue it refused to start (windows did). I couldn't fix it. I sent it in to repair hoping they could salvage the data at least. Just heard from the repair shop now...they can't fix it without wiping the data. So...everything is lost.

Just a GREAT christmas present. Thanks a fucking bunch windows/computers!
