Bendis asked what characters we'd like to see the two of them work on.
To me the answer seems obvious:

Strong Guy!
I know, not gonna happen.
I'd love to see a book about Beast or Alpha Flight that wasn't a complete joke, though.

I'm dead serious on a Silver Surfer book with Granov art.
Not so sure about Bendis writing though. :p

I love Silver Surfer, I really do. It's the very first Marvel book I ever read (it was Donald Duck up to that point). And my all time favorite artist worked on it too, Moebius. I also loved working on the two covers I did. But I think they already have a top notch team assigned to a new SS project, JMS and Esad Ribic. You just can't beat that combination. Plus Esad's work is more "poetic" than mine which would probably fit SS more.

That is awesome news.
Any chance of you doing a guest month on one of Bendis' titles, or does that fuck up the scheduling or piss people off? I think it'd be cool to see an issue of NA with Granov art.

Looking through Iron Man, I can just see a lot of potential in your work for Silver Surfer. I've mentioned in one of the previous threads, to me, it's sort of like a CGI, rendered look, which I think could work for the Surfer really well.
I mean, essentially, anyone who can work with the human form well is a great choice, but the nuances are what I'm usually interested in. I imagine your Surfer to be a little less CHROME, and a little more, travelled.
The thing that strikes me the most, and this in a way is a criticism also.
A lot of Iron Man has a vibe of a fifties sci-fi, where there's a little town and there's something not quite right in it. The characters all clearly have emotion, but there's something behind it that's not there. They lack "soul" if you will. There's... sort of an ambivilence about how much emotion is there.
For the Silver Surfer, or at least, my ideal of what the Surfer is, that would work perfectly. I like to think of the Surfer as having a truly warm heart, and in many ways being more human than any of us, but he's still an alien.
There's a silver wall between him and the rest of the world, and I think your art could really capture that.
Still, I had no idea they were having another shot at SS.
Hopefully that'll work out well. I wasn't real keen on the last series, regardless of the troubles it experienced.

Gotta be something S.H.I.E.L.D. related....

Haha, I just got paranoid that I spilled the news about SS that I wasn't supposed to. But then I did a quick search and sure enough it was announced at Wizard World LA that JMS and Ribic are doing a 5 issue limited series. Phew. But yeah, I am super excited about that.
There is nothing I can really comment on as far as future projects go simply because I really don't know. I am trying to get through Iron Man first.

oh, and Mike, that is a great comment on my work. I agree on all accounts, good and bad. If you look at issue 3 (not the cover as that was done a while ago) I've been really trying to push for more of an organic look to it all, more humanity to the characters if you will, while not losing any of the technical details that I put into my work. It's a constant progression, i am not the one to ever be happy with doing work on cruise control, without improvement I would die of boredom.

Whenever I get a chance to pick up issue three, I'll be sure to scrutinise it extra carefully to pick up the changes. :D
I'm still a big fan, and think you're doing some of the best Iron Man in a long while. It's so good, I was almost tempted to suggest War Machine as a character to work on in the future. :p
Somehow I imagine that might just be a little tedious after Iron Man.
