Ethan, In the letters page of AS-G #3 a guy from Kansas laments the loss of great artists like Neal Adams, Jim Starlin, Jim Aparo, Gene Colan, Steranko, Etc, but mentions only one atists that are like those above. You.

Probably because it's an old school book.

It sounds like sarcasm...like "We used to have guys like Neal Adams, but now what we have is Ethan Van Sciver..."
I just can't comprehend why I would get positive mention in a Marvel comic. But it's interesting, because yesterday Dan Didio mentioned Spidergirl to me in an odd sort of context that I didn't understand. It must have been about this.

The guy liked Spider-girl comics because they remind him of Marvel comics from the late 60's to the mid 80's. He then complained about the Leifeld era of comics. He mentioned that some modern artists "get it" (like EVS) & that Frenz (being from the 80's) get's it too.

How about you type it up then, buddy? I'm going on your paraphrases here like everybody else, and those sound like compliments to me.

I have this in my dcbs order. I will keep an eye out. Why do you think Marvel fans hate and fear your art man?

D'oh! I meant to hit "quote" and I hit "edit" instead! Damn mod powers!
Anyhow, I meant to say, I don't think Marvel fans fear and hate my art at all. But it's surprising that editorial would print the letter.

Wow! I just heard a rumor that EVS is bolting from whatever Geoff Johns book he's drawing this week to take over the art on my favorite book, Spider-Girl! That's most definitely, like, wicked awesome! Somebody call Rich Johnston! :o
