View Full Version : Logo design help... What's the best way to outline type in a vector program?

What's the best way to outline type in a vector program? Is there a better way to create an outline of some display type (for a logo) than simply creating a stroke? I know stroking the type can eat into the letter forms and I wasn't sure if there was a better way of going about doing this.

This seems to be a decent method, and one I've used in the past:

I'm not an expert, but the method shown in the link was the first thing that came to my mind.

If you're using Illustrator, simply select the word and then from the pulldown menu TYPE--->Create Outline

The word can then no longer be edited with the type tool but will become vector shapes. You can UNGROUP them to edit letter separately.
