View Full Version : No animated gifs as avatars?

I've noticed some posters have animated gifs as avatars, but when I try to upload one, or link to one from my photobucket account, I get a message saying I can't use animated gifs.

Is it something about browsers on Macs that won't allow me to do it? Or is there something I'm doing wrong?

I've had this happen to me too, and I have a lot of cool GIF avatars I want to use.

I don't know, but I changed FROM an animated avatar to something different to try it out, and now I can't change it back to what was working before!

Yeah, if they ever fix this/allow it, I have an avatar that everyone will love. :D

Then we'd better keep lobbying.

I tried to put it in as my avatar right after the dancing hobbes one I had for a while. But while I had that avatar, they changed the settings, so once I unequipped Dancing Hobbes, I couldn't put a new one in. Feh.

Seriously, I heard they were not allowing them anymore. I think it's something to do with bandwidth. Older ones stay on.

Hmm. But it wouldn't eat up board bandwidth if I linked the avatar to my own image host would it?

wouldn't it be possible to do it if noone uploaded them directly to the server and just used, say, imageshack?
