Rod Nunley

Just wondering which Absolute books everyone has managed to pick up?

I have The Authority Vol 1 & 2, League of Extrordinary Gentlemen Vol 1, Planetary, Hush, Watchman, Sandman, and I just picked up The Dark Knight this evening.

It's the finest format in all of comics.

Both volumes of Authority, League vol 1, Watchmen, Hush, Planetary and (though I don't think it counts) World's Greatest.

Also, DKR is on order from amazon.co.uk and New Frontier is a dead-cert Christmas present, otherwise my friends and family will be dead-dead.

Eventually they will all be mine.

I just bought the "Absolute Sandman" on a whim and it's fantastic. The only other Absolute I have owned was "Absolute Authority Vol 1" which I got from a store here in downtown Toronto for fourty-dollars. Then I turned around and sold it on E-bay for $250; apparently it's rare or something :grope:

Yeah. I need to start budgeting better. So I can afford stuff like this. We'll see what happens with my birthday/christmas this year.

All of my graphic novels are in this old bookshelf I have. It used to be my great grandmother's. It's real wood- cherry, I think, but it has an orange-ish tint. Two doors open on the front of it and the doors are glass ( plexiglass). It's beautiful.

And my graphic novel collection is outgrowing it at a rapid pace.

I'm hoping to get basically every absolute. I think I'm going to start playing catch-up with them at Christmas. I could probably get:

Dark Knight
Watchmen
New Frontier
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Kingdom Come
New X-Men Omnibus

It sucks that Absolute Authority Vol. 1 is out of print.

Is the Absolute Sandman worth it? I mean, it's basically just the first 20 issues recolored, right?

I can't WAIT for Batman: The Long Holloween. Definitely one of the greatest mainstream stories of the 90s (only one I can think of that can compare it to at that time is Marvels.)

Yes, I hate you all that have Absolute Planetary.

It is really the only one I ever wanted in the format. I've actually just read the the first three trades, which I borrowed a few years ago, but I decided then I just wanted a massive hardcover at some point when the series was complete, and would wait it out. But I didn't lay out the cash when AP first came out, next think I know Midtown is sold out ...and so is everyone else. Haven't seen one for less that $180 bucks when I've looked since. I just hope they re-do the first volume at some point when they gear up for volume 2. The demand is definitely there for those like myself that missed out.

I also have the 'Alias:Omnibus' which I love. Would like to get the 'Dark Knight' at some point, and can definitely see myself getting 'New Frontier'.

There are no Absolute Superman books, Man For All Seasons was better received (and probably better) than the Long Halloween, and there are more extras (the Solo #1 and Superman/ Batman #26 collaborations come to mind.)

The only Absolute edition that has gone back to print is Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths. They (DC) have said before that Absolutes are limited printings, although they could technically bring them back to print at a later time.
