So on November 28th they are releasing an Ultimate Superman Tin Box Set, with Superman, Superman Extended, Superman 2, Superman 2 Donner Cut, Superman 3, Superman 4 and Superman Returns. Plus a shitload of extras their are a bunch of ads for it in this weeks DC books. Think i should get this considering i dont own any Superman DVDs? or should i wait for extended Superman Returns cut that Singer was talking about when the movie was released?

I'd buy the shit out of this, except they didn't make the ultimate version available in HD-DVD even though Superman 1,2, and Returns are all coming out in HD-DVD the same day.

So, I'm buying 1,2 (Donner Cut) and Returns all separately.

Do you really want Superman Returns EXTENDED!?

Unless he actually hits some people in it, no thanks.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I liked it. I liked it fine.

It just seemd a half hour longer than it shoulda been, ya know?

definitely agree with you there, it seemed way too long but i just thought Spacey played an excellent Luthor and Routh was an excellent Kent / Superman. Still pretty excited to see what they "took out".

Pass. The wife already has previous box set. We'll buy the Donner cut and the eventual extended cut of Superman Returns, but we don't need this.

I'm gonna do the same thing, I'm this close to getting an hd-dvd player, and these would be among my first purchases.

I've only got the single DVDs for the first two movies so I'll be getting this. The real draw is the Donner cut of Superman II. The plane rescue in SR is about all I'll watch from that disc. The rest of the movie sucked big time!

I'll just get the Donner cut & Returns.... there's no place in my home for the Quest for peace.

No hdmi, so no 1080p

No hdmi, so no 1080p

Not correct.

Component cables will support 1080p just fine. They won't play a disc with ICT turned on in 1080p, but there's no such disc right now and probably won't be for a while.

Whether the player itself will is a different story, but there's plenty of headroom for 1080p. Heck, the 360 as it is right now supports 1080p.

:D It's a common misconception. I've even heard A/V salesmen repeat that one.

The only place where HDCP connections come into play is on discs with some sort of image constraint copy protection. Right now, playback of such discs is limited to 480p through analog cabling. Most SD-DVDs have such protection, no high definition optical discs (HD-DVD or Blu-Rry) do.

That being said, I'm using HDMI for everything just because the cables aren't as bulky for my wall-mount TV.

Donner Cut of II, regular cut of II, and I'm done.

So if I buy this box set, I can watch Superman 3 and 4 as many times as I want to?
