Live Action Avengers Film
Bendis Preps 'Alias' TV Series
November 08, 2006

Marvel Entertainment is working on a live action Avengers film, although it is currently well down on the list of Marvel movie projects below Ant Man, Captain America, Nick Fury and Thor. The two Avengers direct-to-DVD animated features have performed exceptionally well, selling a total of 1.5 million units demonstrating the popularity of the property.

Marvel also has three live action TV series in development including Alter Ego (Brian Michael Bendis has adapted his MAX comic book series Alias for Fox, which is calling it Alter Ego); Moon Knight (see "Marvel Preps Moon Knight TV Series"); and the Skrull Kill Krew (based on the Skrull Kill Krew comic written by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar for the Marvel Edge imprint).

During Monday's conference call with stock analysts Marvel EVP David Maisel indicated that Marvel expects the Spider-Man and X-Men film franchises to continue with Sony and Fox respectively, telling the analysts, "On the future of the X-Men and Spider-Man franchises...obviously those films have done tremendously well and made significant amounts of profit for our partners and so I would be under the assumption that they would very much want to continue these properties in an aggressive manner."

Yeah this news is old I think. But if they recently mentioned it again and they still intend to make Alter Ego a reality then that's great news. News on it seemed dead for quite a while.

Alter Ego is completely news to me. I thought that was dead as dead, but if it were still alive I could do the happy dance for days.

Took the words out of Millar and Morrison's mouths.

Maybe the popularity of Heroes gave it a new life.

What the fuck's the "Skrull Kill Krew"?

It's the group of angry Skrulls who got tricked into becoming cows in Fantastic Four #2.

Yeah it would, but they're going to have to change the name of it. Otherwise people will confuse it with that other tv series, 'Alias'.

I wonder if they've thought of that.

Given that there was some confusion about the comic series, I'd say yes. ;)

I was joking. We've known the title of the TV show for a while. It's Alter Ego.

If it was on HBO.
Fox will gut the story, characters and plot, then cancel it after 2 episodes.

Plus, no boobs or cussin'.

An Alias TV show belongs on HBO and nowhere else.
