Hey dEnny!, do you know of a Bowen Marvel checklist sort of thing being available anywhere on the net?

Merrik

Unfortunately, I can't be... living in Canada. Wish I was though. It's torture waiting for my LCS to get his stuff in. And even then I'm not guaranteed what I want as they only get a limited number in, and if I don't get there first... I just missed the Terrax mini-bust and now I gotta get it somewhere else.

I used this site to create a master list of my statues to include the number I own.

That's a drag. How affordable is shopping through eBay.ca?

It's actually not too bad. I've only ever purchased a few through ebay.ca though. The air of uncertainty is always a little unwelcoming. Is the item as described... that kind of thing. For the few I did get through ebay, it was actually cheaper than my LCS, which is why I went that route. He has to raise the prices a bit to compensate for the costs it takes to get them to his shop. The Watcher mini bust is listed at $79.95 and I've seen auctions won where the winning bidder has paid about $30-$40.

Sell me on the club. What does it do for me? Other than perhaps allowing me to not spend an arm and a leg on the Electro bust with hands ;)

Two big perks. You receive a discount, but you'd get that anyway as a retailer, and you are eligible to purchase the exclusive busts/statues only available to members.

I'm a member of the BDCC. I buy direct and it gives me access to the limited edition exclusives. Also BD has a great staff which handles customer service better than any other company, that I deal with. The 20% discount helps cover shipping charges, but knowing that you don't have to travel across the country and stand in line to buy a bust at a convention makes it worth joining the club.

You gotta love the exclusives. I love knowing I can be almost assured of owning an exclusive bust offered through the BDCC! Can't wait for the Deathmask Archangel and the next FS exclusive!

I'm a member, and have been for a number of years. Also, there is now a "legacy" section of BD's site that has info on all past releases. Just not in order of release. For that stick w/ Azog.

Merrik, that's one of the reasons I bought virtually all my stuff from an LCS in Edmonton. I got details is your are interested.

I tried to join and would like to be a member but am in the same boat as Merrick though it worked until new developments at BD were inhibited again by Marvel and the "not allowed shipping outside United States territory clause" again was applied because I suppose of blah blah blah. :blah: (I should not suppose anything:dunno:)

I'll throw my 2 cents worth in for consideration. I live in Canada and can't order any Marvel related item direct from Bowen due to the contract Bowen has with Marvel. I'm still a member because Randy doesn't just make stuff for Marvel. I'm a member because of the discount available to members for the stuff I can buy and have shipped direct. Also, I am a proud owner of two Bowen T-Shirts that I wear to conventions and "Bowen Knight" get togethers - a bonus available to members. I signed up too late for the Bowen Coffee Mug but there may be more of those coming down the road.

As for those who live in the states and who can order directly from Bowen, I can't beleive anyone who collects Bowen busts and statues is not a member! One of the not so often mentioned benefits is that members generally receive lower issue numbers on the items they buy direct.

I wish I lived in the US to be able to take full advantage of being a member or wish Randy could sent direct - gotta tell you, his not being able to ship outside the US is one stupid condition for a contract on Marvel's part, and, yes, I hope someone from Marvel read's this post!

Personally here's how I see the exclusives...

1. They have to be profitable to be produced.
2. They are usually a paint/head/accessory change.
3. They would rarely be a completely new mold. Why?
That wouldn't be profitable.
4. I'd love to see a VERY limited exclusive geared to a
small, but vocal consumer, ala Doc Samson FS, but
I doubt that's going to happen.
5. What I like that often happens is a simple repaint
or head change. Two that would be easy to pull
off right now (in my opinion) are a repaint of
Captain America to produce The Captain and a
head change to get a masked, brown, action
Wolverine. These are the types of exclusives
that I realisticly look forward to ordering.
6. Despite any of that...if none of the above were
offered, I would still gladly pay the $25 to get a
discount, fast shipping, and turn-around responses
to emails...usually ONE day or less! If that doesn't
mean a lot to you, you haven't been collecting
that long.

Hope this helps!

:)

Absolutely, never received a broken bust or FS, after over 300 that's not to bad, and every time I have talked to anyone there, they were very courteous.
Actually my best BD story is from when I had to order on the old print out sheet's, when the White MK was only a rumor, I wrote a small note at the bottom of the order sheet, asking IF? the WMK became available I would prefer that to the Silver MK, well, when I opened the box and had received the White version I thought this was something out of the ordinary, which to this day I only order DIRECT.
Even if THEY have a question, about ordering information, which is usually me ordering more of the same thing, I get an e-mail, then call and confirm their question, it's worth the call to Oregon from Pa.
Thank's BD!!!
