EA CFO Warren Jenson said, “We’re thinking that with PlayStation 3 in North America, the [2006 shipment] range is probably 500,000 to 800,000. If you take the middle of that range, that’s approximately what Microsoft sold last year on the Xbox 360.”

Jenson added, “I think from a consumer standpoint, it’s probably going to be as challenging to find a PlayStation 3 this year as it was to find an Xbox 360 last year.”

Huh. I had it in my head that the 360 had a million units at launch. I also have to say that considering the fact that a 360 was an impulse buy for myself, Busse and Bendis -- none of us worked that hard to score one. I wonder if EA isn't making things sound sweeter than they are in hopes of keeping their own stock safe.
