Giving it its own thread. I thought it was fantastic, in my opinion, or maybe it's just the absinthe talking, the best episode since the first season.

That said, I will miss the character who perished, since he was one of my faves.

Ooh. Here's how good it was. It made me respec Jack again. The dipshit who hasn't made a good decision in more than 20 episodes. I respect him again based on tonights. Or clearly that's the absinthe.

Indeed, a fantastic episode.

I'm still trying to decide if Juliet's a big fat liar-head or not. If not, she's got the potential to be a good person. If she is, she's a gigantic ratfuck who's no better than Ben. (Even though I love Ben.)

Gr... I wish itunes would let me download things in a more immediate fashion.

That said, I really-really don't like Juliet. I'd like Eko to whack her with his big stick. I'd like to see more of Rousseau. Somewhat crazy is always very entertaining to me.

Mr Ecko. If you're on the show, don't break the law in the real world.

Yeah. No Rousseau so far this season. Hopefully she'll show up soon. For one thing, for a much older woman, she's pretty damned sexy...or maybe that's just my love of the crazy.

I heard that eko's death was at the actor's request. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje wanted to be written off so he could pursue his own project. Read the source blurb here. http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2006-11-01-eko-lost_x.htm

Anyway, Juliette is a the manipulator extraudinaire. He is playing Jack like a creap fiddle.

Precisely. This was talked about from the start -- not like Libby and AnaL. I can't remember the website since I'm at work, but the Ask Ausiello interview comfirms it as well.

And AAA was supposedly a real pain in the ass to work with, too. I miss Eko, but after reading about that, not as much.

Yeah, or one of those. or a Sleep Diddle. (always fun!)

So Rose's terminal cancer clears itself up on the island. However, Benry is also dying and nothing seems to be happening. Is this because he lives on Alcatraz Part Deux, or some other factor?

It seems hard to believe he doesn't know about the island's healing properties. So it might stand to reason that this whole thing with Benry's tumor is a ginormous mindfuck for Jack ala Sawyer's heartsplodey.

I think Juliette is appealing to Jack's MO for personal agendas. It's so very Julius Caesar. Et tu, Jute?

I think it has to do with character and intent. Then again it could be continuity problems resulting from changed direction. Though I suspect the person that changed direction is coming from is Drew Goddard who is pretty damned good with continuity. I also like to think that some of my problems with a couple of the episodes this season were due to trying to reel the show back in and put in on track...to mix metaphors.

Did anyone else think that couple that went along to Pearl were going to be Red Shirts? A certain science teacher went out that route. I kinda liked the actors (can't comment on their characters considering what little they did). Are we finally gonna learn more about the other survivors without having them die in the process?

And the island doesn't seem to heal what happens to you after you arrive. Locke and Rose were already unhealthy when they arrived.

Ooh. Well pointed out. I hadn't thought of that. Though I do think that Ben is different than Locke, not just in being an other.

Haha... Finally saw the ep... And it definately got high marks from me.

And about the healing... I was bit under the impression that the island healed you if you were playing the role it wanted you to play... like it's some kind of control mechanism.

Regarding Benry (heh) --

Remember way back in that Rose and Bernard episode when he took her to that healer in Australia, and hence the reason for them being on the plane? It didn't work because it wasn't her magnetic resonance or what-the-fuck-ever. Perhaps that's Ben's problem. His body is so used to the magnetic properties of the island, it's not working for the tumor.

Lordy, I put way too much thought into this show.

At least 34% more than the people actually writing it.

They should totally let me take over the writing. Of course, the main plot would be getting Sayid and Desmond naked every episode.

What's the old line about the devil? That the greatest trick he ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist?

I think the same thing goes for the Lost writers and their "plan for the show."

I've suspected for awhile that this will be the season the general populace catches on and demands some kind of payoff via dwindling viewership. But given the absolute dregs of the entertainment industry that have been put on the airwaves as new shows this season, I'm not sure there's much chance of that happening.

Well, we learned a lot about the black smoke monster last night, if that's anything. I'd consider that a pretty big deal. They're getting more answers to us than they're given credit.

Of course, I don't watch it for the mysteries, I watch it because it's character-driven. I'd watch a show with these characters if the plot revolved around them all watching paint dry in a room.

On a related note, I've started calling my mom's black longhair cat "black smoke monster." It's really fitting if you know Mickey.

Change it to Sawyer and a back from the dead Boone and I'll help you stage the coup!

Only if I get to include The Sawyer Song (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/sawyer.php) in every episode.

Oh, and Sayid is non-negotiable. Must include Sayid badassery.

OMG, I just clicked on the Sawyer Song and I'm still laughing! Wow. I love it when warped people have a computer and too much time on their hands. The only thing that could top that is if somebody were to do the Numa Numa song dressed as Lost characters.

and you can have your Sayid if I can have my Boone.
