I realize that's a weird thing to say here, but man. I mean, I enjoy comics, but lately so many awesome things are out. I realized that in the last week, I've read amazing issues of USM, The Wintermen, Casanova, Daredevil, Desolation Jones, Planetary, Nextwave, and on and on. It's like every book I open is way above average lately. It's a great time to be reading comics...
I wish I could get caught up with USM without spending alot of cash...Nextwave though, I can get that hardcover and then issues. Yay.

I agree wholefuckingheartedly. I'm absolutely LOVING the state of comics right now, I've never been as happy with my reads as I am now. And there's so much out there for so many different tastes, there honestly is something for everyone right now.

Honestly, the last time I was this satisfied with the industry was in the '80's. There's a LOT to choose from, and while there's plenty of crap, there's just as much quality.

I think now I'm kinda in a down slope, just because a lot of my favorites are either coming to an end soonish (Y the Last Man, 100 Bullets) or have gotten stale (Hellblazer's current run as an example.)
I need some brand new books to get pumped for.
I also think I'm down cause a lot of the books I was pumped for (NuWildstorm, Nextwave, etc) have been letdowns in one form or another.

I LOVE the art, but not the way stories are now structured, and how comics (and many writers) are embarrassed to accept the medium for what it is, and are trying to make them into printed movies. I wish I could get into it, but if I want a movie, I'll watch a movie.
I really am enjoying all of the classic stuff I've been reading lately, though, so I am loving comics a lot lately, just not current comics, except for a few notable exceptions.
I agree with Dusty, if I get his meaning. As a new reader, I've been reading some current stuff, and getting caught up on some older stuff. And although I usually like the writing in new comics better, if it was structured more like old comics. And I don't really think current writers should be as terrified of cheese as they are. A little cheese never hurt anyone.

I'm enjoying comics now quite a bit. If I had the money to buy more comics, i'd enjoy... more comics.

Except for my extremely lactose intolerant grandmother, ...God rest her soul.
and right now, I'm buying fewer titles than a couple of years ago, but all of them are clicking. So, I'm in the same place. Plus much like jhiss, SSoV this week gets added to the others you mentioned as having me really glad I read comics right now!

Psssssst.
The zero issue was the best part by far.

I couldn't stand the zero issue, and I prayed that I would enjoy the #1s of the minis more, and I didn't, so not a single one made it to ish 2 for me.

Seriously? That's probably IMO one of the best books to come out in a long time.

I just have to see Grant freaking Morrison take on the New Gods. It'll be Morrison taking on some of the Kings greatest. Jack Kirby had maybe the greatest imagination in comics. It'll be worth tracking down back issues just to see Morrison write the New Gods and Mr. Miracle.

I'm enjoying them now that I've eliminated a lot of the chaff that I was buying out of habit. Now I only keep books I'm looking forward to, or are new and I'm interested in, and it's kept everything revitalized really nicely. Plus it helps that some of my favorite books are hitting on all cylinders. Really, the only complaint I think I have about my current pull list is that I wish Ex Machina came out more consistently.
