Sorta spun out of the Force Works thread...
Does anyone remember Quantum & Woody? Christopher Priest wrote it, I forget who was the artist. But it was awesome. Like these two dudes who were linked with these power bands.
Woody was the extremely non-serious guy compared to Quantum's straight man. Quantum wanted to be a superhero, Woody was just along for the ride.
I thought it was one of the funniest books around at the time, and it was definitely one of the best books Valiant/Acclaim put out.
So... discuss. :D

Thanks Pat. :) I knew it was some dude with initials.
But it was hilarious. I remember one time where Woody took one look at Ninjak and started cracking up.

An amazing book at its best, it worked best when it went for the funny. As happy as I was to see it return after its initial cancellation, though, I thought the final run of issues were flat and unsatisfying.
The book was saddled with a really foolish tagline, "The World's Worst Superhero Team", which raised expectations that it would be little more than a dopey series of lame gags when, in fact, it was a surprisingly deep and unusually smart exploration of race and friendship. It was really funny, too, but the humor was usually rooted more in wit than slapstick.

Still have them all, read them recently, brilliant stuff. Would love to see Priest and Bright take another swing at it.

I would have loved to see it run for at least another year or so.
Great book.

MEDAAAAAAAAACIIIIIIIIIIIINE WOOOOOOOOMAAAAAAAAAAN
It was one of my favorite comics ever. I had a letter published AND I was thanked in the last issue of the original run (and Priest also made a comment about my sister's attractiveness). AND I won a full set of Valiant Voyeurs!

That book was a ton of fun. The only thing I read from Valliant.

So why hasn't the the series been picked up by a new publisher and trades released? I've been wondering this for a while now.

I've sadly only read a few issues, but they were really good.
There are some TPBs but they seem to be pretty rare. Last time I looked for them on ebay they were really expensive.
I think there were some rights issues, too. With Acclaim going bankrupt a few years back, I assume everything is back in Priest and Bright's hands. I hope someone knows more than I do regarding this.

He never got paired up with a hot artist and/or hot character, so his stuff never quite got put in front of wide enough an audience for him to gain that kind of popularity.
I'd like to see him write something for Amazing Spider-Man.
