I'm amazed that it's only Phaneuf's second year. It's so rare that our drafting has resulted in anything worth a damn.

I'm so used to us making decisions like picking Trevor Kidd over Martin Brodeur.

I watch basketball. But the point of basketball, unlike hockey, is not extreme violence at incredible speed.



The point of my remark was that hockey feels like someone concocted the deadliest sport they could muster short of involving explosives and gunfire (Move at incredible speed across a surface that can shatter your bones! Punch one another! Swing big sticks! Fling small hard object at a guy whose job it is to jump in front of them!) then proceeded to remove the balls from it for the next several decades (Fighting sends you to the penalty box! Oh Jesus, the ice hurts!).
