I hate that in my normal social life, for the most part, this line usually just causes blank stares.

This describes, to me, what is wrong with mainstream America, and yes, the world in general.
Inexplicably, and on a semi-related note, one of my favorite Trek lines ever is in the TNG season one episode "The Arsenal of Freedom", when Data looks down in the cavern at Picard and Crusher trapped over 30 feet below, then looks up at Riker and says "I believe I can safely traverse the distance". I geek out every time.

Has David Warner ever played a good guy?
He was Bob Crachitt to George C. Scott's Scrooge in the best adaptation of Christmas Carol I've ever seen.
In another semi related note, I just walked downstairs to the lobby of my office and there's a giant exhibit of ST:TNG props and whatnot. There's tircorders and those panels the pilot the ship with, theres a models of the ships the use for the exterior shots, klingon weapon thingies, the hospital beds everything. It's huge. Weird. Anyone in NYC?

I've been going through my ST: Next Gen DVDs lately and watching some of my favorite episodes and I think my favorite line of the entire series is from Season 7's "Phantasms". In Ten-Forward in one of Data's dreams, Captain Picards says, "Mr. Data, what kind of cake is this?" Data responds, "It is a cellular peptide cake." Then Worf (with his mouth full of cake) adds "With mint frosting!"
That shit cracks me up every time.

Worf's comedic timing in that episode is nothing short of brilliant.

Funniest ever variation of this I've ever heard...
... a friend and I were once waiting in the street for our friend to turn up, who's a lesbian. We saw her walking towards us with three of her friends, who were also lesbians. Before I could so much as shout hello to them, my friend pointed at them and screamed at the top of his voice, "tHERE ARE FOR DYKES!" in his best Patrick Stewart impression.
We both promptly pissed ourselves.
