You can be, and probably are! But let's not forget that JFK's anti-communism was a charade for the American people, and his globalist politics aimed at eventually cooperating with the Soviet Union. Removing our missiles from Turkey was a nice gift from the US to the USSR.

a charade?

wasn't world war 3 pretty close to happening?

I also thought that the turkey missiles were supposed to be removed well before the cuban missles were being assembled.

btw, you should get the Missiles of October DVD , which was the 1970's ABC teleplay version of the cuban missile crisis, and featured an all star cast of actors.

I also thought that the turkey missles were supposed to be removed well before the cuban missles were being assembled.

Kennedy's anti-communism was a carefully constructed artificial stance encouraged by the Senior Joe Kennedy, who was a true anti-communist.

The fact that WWIII almost happened was evidence that JFK wouldn't take a hard line against the Soviets, and they saw him as a pushover. Kruschev scared the living piss out of Jack, and then they laughed at him when he left, a bundle of nerves.

All of the Turkey missiles being "outdated anyhow" and "Oh, we were going to get rid of them soon anyway" is a sad attempt to explain away the Cuban Missile Crisis and keep that mythology alive. The Kennedy people are hilarious that way.

I say caught because there were a bunch ofpeople banging pots all around me and I didn't speak enough Italian to know what was going on...

It was first published in 1950 and contains 6 autobiographical pieces by international ex-Communists about how they got into the Workers' party and eventually left it. Very nicely written. When Army recruiters came calling during the first golf war, my senior year of high school, I told them I was a communist, and they went away. I don't suppose that would work anymore and under present circumstances, I suppose I'd try to convince them of how gay I am.
I couldn't really respond to your poll in that while I appreciate the core principles of Communism, I have never belonged to a Communist organization.
