Hmmm. Well, it's a good track.

But what about all the new fans they'll find by writing cliche filled tripe for the uninspired and escapist thirsty introverts with juvenile obsessions?

and dammit, don't they have kids?
THEY HAVE A FAMILY TO FEED!

besides, it was always their childhood dream to make music for Apple Computers

By agro, I assume you mean "metal" which they are. For me Agro is a refrence to the short lived "Agro-Metal" scene that tried to emulate Soulfly.

Regardless, Today is the Day is best catagorized as "art-metal" and is extremely challenging for metal enthusiests. Both Neurosis and Isis are part of the new wave of Doom Metal that is more atmospheric than gloom.

Some Today Is The Day clips : Mother's Ruin (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7Q7-pbUdx5U), This Machine Kills Fascists (http://youtube.com/watch?v=WKLIVRB1rXI) (which lyrically falls flat from post-9/11 syndrome), 6 Dymentia Satyr (http://youtube.com/watch?v=6tCyWbIcHpc) (a good example of their overall body of work).

Neurosis:
Crawl Back In (http://youtube.com/watch?v=GfdlQlTZDu4), Under the Surface (http://youtube.com/watch?v=l04Nrg48ZDI), and A Sun That Never Sets (http://youtube.com/watch?v=9GUCGLUicNk).

Isis, (the most atmospheric and accessable of the three bands):
In Fiction (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8zxU5kbxy68), The Beginning And The End (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ccs8ecz3lUk) (live footage overdubbed with the album track).

Yes, I suppose. In-scene terms and exterior terms are different. To you, black metal would most likely mean something completely different that it really is. And, I assume, Death Metal would sound less mainstream than Crust.

Steppenwulf isn't metal. Black Sabbath is.

Led Zeppelin barely qualifies but stands firmly in the "hard rock" catagory.

Black Metal - Satanic metal that eschews production value in favor of a wall of sound. An easy comparison is Black Metal is to Metal as Early Punk was to 70's Rock.

Death Metal is a hardening of the Thrash sound with trashy "monstorous" vocals. It hold's onto metal's more progressive roots and melds them with brutality, where Black Metal intends to break free from any traditional song structures.

Crust - Literally, noise. It's supposed to be noise.

better that he went solo and sold out than to be part of that new crappy J5 album...fairly bad, I just hope they are not on the same path as Black Eyed Peas.

Bands like Today Is the Day are all that keep me from me from falling asleep after lunch and getting fired... I owe them a debt. :D

You know, I've been listening to them for some 6 years now, and I still put on albums like Temple of the Morningstar and I just can't get over them. Steve Austin is a fucking genious, and takes the "turning ugly sounds into beauty" to the next level. Even the sub-par Kiss The Pig puts new work by Tool to shame.
