Anyword on a sequel on this or is it pretty self contained?

This story is self contained but we are talking about doing it as a follow up mini

Got the only copy at the store this morning. Have already devoured it - and really like it! I'll have to read it again later when I can give it a little more time. Out of curiosity - when did you guys do this one? Was it inspired by recent events in the news, or is that just creepy coincidence?

Yea, that was just a coinidence- I started this before Powers and ship of fools, some of it only done recently after Bryan wrote a new story around it- and that was before we ever were aware of Teri Shivo

We got a nice batch of copies in. I made it one of our 4 'Staff Picks', so not only is it displayed on the shelves, but also featured prominently at the front of the house in the Staff Recommendations section, too. ;)

I won't get a chance to read it till Friday, as tomorrow we are gearing up for the Boston Anime Con.

This was very different. I'm going to read it again when I get a chance. Was pretty cool though.

I had to read it twice to fully appreciate it, but I really did. Apprecaite it that is. The schizophrenic nature of the ever changing art blended perfectly. It had a great sombre and sort've morbid magical atmosphere to it. Good work, you guys, for getting such an original book out there.

Spoilers...

I liked it and plan on reading it again but I'm not sure i got it all. What was the demon in the witch/mothers womb? Was there any significants to the horseshoe on the fathers head besides that there was one above his head when he was sleeping? So the souls that dead girl freed were people on life support? What was the demon in the cauldron of poison? why did the mother look like such a lunatic at the end?
Don't get me wrong I love books that don't give easy endings. Maybe I'm looking for more than is there like i tend to do a lot. So anyone got this book all figured out?

Wow! Just finished Oeming's 86 Voltz Dead Girl.

Fur-reeking awesome stuff. I love stories like this; just a little off the beaten path - kind of weird. The art is, of course, great. Both Robert Hack and Oeming lay down some really sweet work.

You got bro! Glad you dug it- glad you read it twice- Bryan can do some very thick writing, but its not thick as in padded, its thick as in smart:)
The dudes a poet. And he's crazy enough to prove it.

Okay--picked up 86VOLTS yesterday and i have to say...

GOOD SHOW. the framing device you conjured using this "REALITY" was brilliant, and i think really pulled the story together.

I have the advantage of being PRETTY familiar with the original 86 concept, so it was interesting to see it completed and with words. i had the hardest time making sense of it in a vacuum, but i'm glad it fleshed out and i absolutely adore the new pages and all.

Not kicking himself in the butt...

This book got me high.

I'm serious. There was so much heavy, dark, black ink used throughout it smelled like one of those old purple-ink mimmeograph machines from back in grade school.

Not a bad job overall. I think I would have enjoyed it more had all of my nerve centers not been totally blown by the psychotropic experience I got from the smell. I suppose that's what I get for not being a recreation drug user then reading this issue.

:D

Seriously though...good job Mike. It's something different, which is cool. (And good job to BJLG, too.)

I liked it. It was a little weird, but in a good way.

don't people read usually and THEN make comments?

joking, but the Oeming fans are rabid fans, gotta get their hands on the sucker quick, pore over it's pages and then, when you get some free time from your busy busy lives, then you get the chance to read it.

Anything unclear about the story, i'd have to say is...1) it's a comic book by Mike and Glass...2) it's surreal and not literal and quite open to interpretation. the general concepts are vague and unclear, as is the black and white gesturing of Mike's art in this story, but it's mostly this Acid trip out of body experience...and when are they ever crystal?

Liked it a lot, didn't love it, because well, it's not mine. But instead of just a bunch of pretty pictures, we get a story, and that is the icing on top.

great storytelling as always, the brushwork is to die for, and Brian , i have to say, is a DAMN fine poet of the highest order. Crazy as a loon, but a poet.

most of them were though...

Dana

be cool mike

Sheesh...
It took me long enough to get functional again on the new board (or is this the new old board?).
Hip deep in my new play season right now, but glad people are digging the oddness that is 86 V.
My only comment thus far would be, no, 86 Volts is not intended as an endorsment of euthanasia but I know readers will draw their own conclusions.

Get LOR Return of the King and Two Towers, but play towers first. You'll dissapear into it:)

I hated Two Towers on the xbox. It was nothing but a button masher... no role playing at all. Is the PS2 version diffferent?
