Tommy Castillo is my favorite Bat-artist of the '00s so far.

My Batman rocks! I mean, seriously, if every artist on the earth died as well as all the kids that could draw stick figures my Batman would definitely be in the top ten.

YEAH!!!

They got pulled. Which really sucks because I enjoyed them a lot and thought it added something that made the book "ours"....but it didn't really move the story forward so it was decided that we would take it out. But for your viewing please (if it's your bag) here are the two pages of script that were removed featuring Bendis, Oeming and Mack.

P.S. True story. I asked Mike and David if they knew who Fred Dukes was and neither of them did...so the joke would have been true:)

PAGE EIGHT

Panel 1 – An outside shot of the entrance to the restaurant with the door closed, but even from here we can see the Fat Man approaching through the glass door. Three buddies are walking along the sidewalk in fine spirits this midsummer day. Note to Tommy: I got approval to use David Mack, Mike Oeming, and Bendis as reference for these three characters. Let’s have some fun with this. Each have little con badge necklaces on that say their names. Have some fun with this like “the name’s BRIAN “spanky” BENDIS”, and ect. Hopefully since this is a comic people will get the Bendis and X-Men reference.

Panel 2 – Same as above except they have moved closer to the door now and the Fat Man comes lumbering out of the entrance. The view backs out to show how small they are compared to this gargantuan beast of a man.

1.BENDIS
That’s the last time I do a con here. The fans, the ones who come across the country just to get something signed, just to say hi and shake your hand, them I can deal with, them I love, but this…this fucking two hour commute just to find a half way decent Benny’s…

Panel 3 – Same as above but now the Fat Man crosses their path and totally eclipses them in sheer size and mass.

Panel 4 – The Fat Man has moved on down the sidewalk or toward the edge of the panel and the three are left standing there stupefied.

2.MACK
Jesus.

3.BENDIS
Fuck.

4.OEMING
Vagina

Panel 5 – Mack looks at Oeming and has this peculiar look on his face. But Bendis is already heading into the restaurant. Behind them a familiar person makes their approach near to our three unsuspecting young men. The rain has slowly started to drizzle down.

5.MACK
Vagina?

6.OEMING
Just seemed like the thing to say.

7.BENDIS
I swear…that just…that had to be Fred Dukes.

PAGE NINE
Panel 1 – The three men continue into the restaurant still having their conversation and now we see fully that the man who was approaching from behind them is John Doe. The rain continues to drizzle down and the sidewalk and street have taken on a slightly wet and damp look.

1.MACK
Who?

2.BENDIS
If you have to ask…

3.OEMING
Can’t believe you, Dave.

4.MACK
What? Who is he?

5.OEMING
Just leave it alone man. It’s a writer thing.

6.MACK
Hey…I write.

Panel 2 – John Doe looks after the Fat Man who makes his way across towards the subway entrance. The three men are now in the restaurant and John Doe stands there alone. Watching, waiting, stalking. Still raining but now a bit more now.

7.JOURNAL
I live in a world that has become a never-ending dream.

8.FAT MAN CAPTION
At age ten I came home from school and found my mother dead on the bathroom floor. The doctors said it was kidney failure. Something called diabetes that heavy people got.

9.FAT MAN CAPTION
I never called the police. I just sat there. Holding her head in my arms till my dad got home. When he walked in the door and saw me sitting there I saw exactly what heart break looked like.

10.FAT MAN CAPTION
It looked like a mirror.

Panel 3 – The Fat Man makes his lumbering way down the steps. He already looks out of breath and a slight sheen of sweat has broken out on his forehead. This is taking a lot of effort on his part and it shows.

11.JOURNAL
Surrounded by those who refuse to see.

12.FAT MAN CAPTION
I was old enough to know what death was. Old enough to know she was gone and she wasn’t coming back.

Panel 4 – The same as above except now he is further down the steps. A single shadow from above falls down the stairwell as if someone off page is standing at the top of the stairwell.

13.JOURNAL
They have grown fat and heavy on blind eyes and turned heads and sleep the sleep of the innocent without fear or consequence of their daily actions.

14.FAT MAN CAPTION
One year exactly, from the day that she died, a blood vessel exploded in my dad’s brain. I found him with the phone still in his hand trying to call for help. The doctors said it was from high cholesterol. I was too young to understand…

15.FAT MAN CAPTION
…but too old to forget.

Panel 5 – Same as above except the stairwell is empty. The shadow is still there.

16.FAT MAN CAPTION
By age eleven everyone I had ever loved was gone. Everything except the food. The food would never leave me. It would always be there. So I ate.

17.FAT MAN CAPTION
I ate until one day I realized that no matter how much I ate the nightmare that was my life wasn’t going to end. It would be there each day I opened my eyes. Looking back at me in the mirror one pound at a time. But instead of changing, I closed my eyes…hoping it would all just go away.

18.JOURNAL
So today is the day that I disturb a city trapped in eternal slumber and pry open the eyes and…

You should buy a beer, stripper, or whatever the hell you buy for people when you want to do a nice thing for them for whomever told you to take that out of the script.

Great little piece.

How many more times do I have to suck you off before you'll let me write the intro? It's starting to get all Nip/Tuck, brokeback mountain meets comic weird;-)

But seriously, DCTD was one of the best comics I read this year.

NOW SUCK IT!!!

Oh, and I hope you guys enjoy the issue. It came out pretty cool. Hey pretty boy CB, can we announce whose writing issue six yet:)

Cause there ain't no intro in the thing you're talking about!

And yeah, nip/tuck is getting very brokeback mountain.

And thanks for the mention. Would have been a great interview without it though! :)
