So has anyone heard of a book called "Believeniks" by Ivan Felt and Harris Conklin?
It's a book I just finished reading. It was interesting, the basic concept is two middle aged men, both life long Mets fans exchanging emails to one another during the course of the 2005 season. One of them is a Poetry Professor at Queens College, so there's fun little things in it, like a haiku written for Kaz Ishii, etc.
So I enjoyed the book, and yesterday I Googled the authors hoping to learn a little more about them and...(spoiler warning)
It turns out the authors are pseudonyms. They don't exist, in fact the book was really written by Jonathon Lethem, and one of his friends, another author! I'm glad I didn't know as I read it, because it kept the illusion alive, but wow! If I had known that Lethem, one of my favotie authors had written a book about the Mets I would've freaked out and read it a lonnnng time ago.
So now my brother started reading it, and all i want to do is tel lhim, but ofcourse I'm keeping to myself until he's done.
