This is just sort of random, but I thought I would post it here for the fun of it. In March 2006, I went for my first time to Japan. Needless to say, it was one of the most fun and interesting experiences of my life. It was great learning about a different culture, and the uneasy balance of consumerism and the traditional ways. Here are some pics I took...
Underpants in the vending machines...(tacky ones at that)

Traditional Japanese wedding at the Meiji shrine

(I felt bad taking a photo, but everyone else was and no one seemed to mind)
We went to a traditional temple buried in a Tokyo residential neighborhood where they had a number of 19th century paintings. Many were extremely politically charged.

The man working there was even gracious enough to give us a hardbound book with all the paintings since we made a small donation to the temple!
The sun begins to set at the Inari shrine in Kyoto. Famous for the gorgeous view of the city and mountains.

The fish in the backyard of our ryokan.

Too gorgeous to not take a picture of.

Another temple in Kyoto.

The famous Himeji castle.

VERY steep stairs...we had a fun time getting through the castle without falling down.
Anyways, that was a snippet of my Japan experience. If anyone else has pictures from the region, feel free to share them. :)
