View Full Version : Will the Cage/Jones baby have powers?

Thommy Melanson

Will Marvel do the expected down the line, and have the Cage/Jones baby grow up to be a superpowered costumed adventurer?

Or will they take the path least traveled and possibly more interesting story-wise and have the baby be a "normal" who has to deal with the legacy and insanity of her parents' lives?

*edit: (thanks for the gender reminder, Donovan ;) )

I doubt the baby will grow up.

If there's one thing that totally exposes comic book time, it's the presence of children.

In future stories, the kid will have powers. I guarantee it.

I'm hoping Marvel won't give the kid powers.

If, in Marvel canon, two "normals" can produce a superpowered mutant occasionally - then two superpowered parents should be able to produce a "normal" occasionally.

Your logic is a bit flawed.

it probably will....but it really shouldn't, imo

Why?

Are you talking genetics?

Better question is will the baby have a name? ;)

I kid, I kid.

Seriously though, I think either way it could be interesting. Either the kid could grow up with powers and we could see what it's like to raise a kid with powers (that doesn't involve warping reality); or we could see what it's like for the kid to grow up with superpowered parents, but to be a normal kid yourself. How many kids can have an Avenger or former Avenger come to career day?

We won't actually see the baby grow up, but the adult version will travel through time from the future. There's a chance the adult version could already have shown up in present time. Are there any adult biracial characters in the Marvel Universe?

Damn, I just had a thought. I loved that Bendis took the whole Xorn issue and put an end to it once and for all. What if he did the same thing with the X-character who had possibly the most convoluted origin of all time: M. I wouldn't give a damn if it ended up retconning all the crap that Hama did after Lobdel and Bachalo left Gen-X (I tend to ignore that nonsence anyway). Yes, I know it's practically impossible, but an M fan can dream, no?

Yes, it's certainly possible. But I doubt it will be the case with Cage & Jessica's baby.

Technically that's the original Vision's "son" So he's like brothers with Billy and Tommy.

As for the Cage/Jones baby, I think she will be Thor's opponent in Civil War. Fuck the Sentry. This baby will take Thor down.

Do doubt a child will come from an alternate future claiming to be the child of both Franklin Richards and the Cage/Jones baby... The Grandchild of Reed Richards, Sue Storm-Richards, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. She'll have lots of super-powers.

Yep.

Well there's Kevin "Kasper" Cole. (Black father, Jewish mother) He was briefly the Black Panther for awhile, then later the new White Tiger in 'The Crew' series. I'm not sure what has happened to him.

I'm sure there are a few others, but I can't think of them. There's never been a truly prominent biracial hero I can think of. I'd like to see more in the future. Seeing as I'm biracial. :)

Ugh. I imagine having Luke Cage as a father would be like bringing Mr. T to career day.

IF we're counting species, doesn't Bobby Drake have a son somewhere by a human chick that left him and went overseas or something? I don't quite remember.

Nathan Christopher Summers is technically a biracial child, as his mother was Madelyne Pryor, a baseline human grown by Sinister from Jean's DNA.

M'not sure Baby Cage/Jones will get up with Franklin Richards. Though technically, the future that Rachael Summers is from has all but been pre-empted in the 616.

Personally I hope she doesn't have powers and instead of growing up normal she instead becomes a villain because of jealousy or something. Yeah it's cliche I know but think of how dangerous she could be especially when she grew up seeing her parents teamates and knowing their habits. It's kind of the way I wish that they would have done the second Blade movie. Admit it wouln't you have rather seen Whistler as the main villain?
